Traitors. How to make it better

Here’s my idea. Viewers don’t know who the Traitors are so you are having to make your own deductions as you go through the episodes like the faithfuls.

Also there is a prize pot for if a faithful wins and if a traitor wins. In the tasks the Traitors have to kind of sabotage (without it being obvious) the tasks and any money available that isn’t banked goes to the Traitor pot.

There’s something that could be done re Traitor recruitment as well as I think there’s a fundamental flaw there that stacks the odds to Traitors but I can’t work it out…

Ooh and maybe there can be public voting too. It doesn’t affect the banishments or murders but if the public vote that x if a traitor but is a faithful more is added to the Traitor pot and vice versa.

I think it works really well as it is. It might be good to have an option (on the red button maybe?!) where you don’t know who the traitors are.

I would improve only by having it more that the people with shields being kept secret from the traitors (unless it’s them!) so they run the risk of trying to murder someone who’s shielded.

There's already a program like that called The Mole.

LupaMoonhowl · 10/11/2025 20:08

Agree with the above. I only came to Traitors this week and don’t normally b watch TV and staying with a friend who was watching.
I would have v thought better that v viewers didn’t know who was traitor until it was revealed.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 10/11/2025 21:14

I would prefer to be a fly on the wall and know who the traitors are. It wouldn't be the same game at all if viewers were kept in the dark.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" as the saying goes.
<that's for the production company if you see this thread, which I'm sure you will>

agree the current format still works but I do think the Traitor recruitment thing is broken. What’s the point of trying to banish traitors early only for them to be replaced meaning the odds are far more stacked in The Traitors favour at the end?
May as well just keep them there and banish a few episodes before the end!

How about no traitors at all and the faithful drive themselves crazy hunting non-existent traitors…? Not sure how anyone gets murdered though… Grin

Haha love it. A bit like that fake reality TV programme about going to space when they never actually left Elstree

I reckon random murders to drive them even more mad or banishment of the ‘sweetest most popular member’ until they realise being an arsehole is what wins it…. 😬

I am pretty certain that the stats on Traitors v Faithfuls is almost 50/50 wins each across the 60 series that have been played across the world.

Beekman · 10/11/2025 23:37

I too think it would be interesting if they did one series where the viewers don’t know why The Traitors are but I’m sure the production company went to great pains to see what format worlds best.

I don’t like recruiting when an original Traitor is banished, just have more traitors to start with

ChristmasHug · 10/11/2025 23:43

I agree that the traitors should need some incentive to out themselves, like sabotaging tasks.

At the moment the faithful try to decide who would have asked to be a traitor but half of them did so that's pointless. Then they try to look for someone acting shifty but invariably vote for old/young/female/ minority people or other biases - see earlier series. It's rare that traitors truly out themselves so it's all a guessing game.

But that would mean there is no potential jeopardy for faithfuls to be chosen by the traitors to either join them or be murdered. And the existing traitors don't know whether their new recruit will be good, bad or indifferent, or even throw them under the bus at the first opportunity. It's also quite fun to watch a formerly loyal faithful grappling with suddenly becoming a traitor themselves.

FightingFish · 11/11/2025 00:38

The one major flaw is the whole possibility of recruitment. It seemed to me that most contestants knew JR was a traitor early doors but realised that it is sensible to keep a traitor in during the beginning weeks if you know who they are to prevent recruitment. I would up the original traitors to 5 and ban recruits.

freakinthespreadsheets · 11/11/2025 00:44

I don't like the idea of not knowing who the traitors are, half the entertainment comes from that side of it.
I think id like to see recruitment change or at least as a one-off twist. In that the person who is recruited commits a murder alone before ever meeting the Traitors - so the murdered person could be a traitor or faithful.
