Please somebody, tell me why every single couple have to be holding hands at every opportunity in this show. I love the show but this makes me cringe. Surely people don't hold hands ALL the time?

I used to like it, still do when they show some new programmes. However, things like this are puke making and drive me away. I'm sure it is largely stage managed for the camera.

It also irritates the hell out of me when the man (usually) comments that the massive amount of built in wardrobe space will be just barely enough for the woman's clothes. Like men hardly have any clothes and never need any space at all. I'd not be very impressed with DH if he said anything like that to me!!

I like the presenters of the show but they are all so bloody needy!
They desperately try to ‘sell’ the place before the couple have even stepped through the door!

I’m addicted but it’s cringy.
Bingo phrases, eg ones about the woman’s clothes and wardrobe space, wiggle room, outside space.
I hate that when it comes to making an offer the woman usually defers to the man.
They also usually have really small budgets, which is quite limiting. Would be nice to see more outside of the Spanish Costas.

Especially Laura. She seems to take it as a personal insult if someone rejects all her properties. While clearly being lazy and not involved at all in the process other than the televised bit.

i think some of the presenters are more hands on in choosing the properties. Craig is lovely, clearly listens and often gets it right, as do Leah and Jean. Some of the ‘old’ presenters (Laura, Jasmine, Ben) are clearly not very involved at all in the selection. Whether this is them being lazy or too busy to be more hands on, I don’t know. But their episodes are poorer for it and I used to love Ben.

Budgets are too small, and it's always Spain. It's got really boring, and I agree really really formulaic.

And why, why, why, do these people always offer so low, and then seem surprised when their offer is rejected.

Yes, the ‘cheeky offer’ which is often insulting. The property costs £80k, their budget is £90k and ‘we’re going to come in at £60k as we need to do work’. WTF!

What I also don’t understand is that if there is a practice of accepting offers massively under ask why the presenters don’t show them properties at the right percentage above ask. This would massively open up what they could show them.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 14/09/2025 11:22

They always want 2 bedrooms and a pool for a budget of 70k🙄😂. So all the family can come and stay.

I look at some of the ones they turn down and the one they go on go offer on and just think "are they being serious".

Although I think the same watching Escape to the Country when a retired couple are looking for a huge house in the country with acres of land so all their family can come and stay.

I really want to know how many of these people actually go on to purchase anything. At least with Location they do a follow up.

BruisedNeckMeat · 14/09/2025 11:26

I love this show but the constant handholding drives me mad!! You’re 60 years old and been married for 40 years - stop holding bloody hands!!

Also the ridiculously low offers because work needs doing. Errrm it’s priced to take the condition of the property into account.

Also they are never allowed to wear sunglasses so often, especially when they’re discussing at the end, they are all squinting into the sunshine!

Hummingbirdtree · 14/09/2025 11:34

It gets me every time when a shoe box that looks like a prison cell is described as ‘spacious’. I don’t like any of the presenters apart from Jasmine. Really miss Johnny. The whole format has become very tired and formulaic. I also don’t like that for those who want to revisit or bring their children, we never hear if they actually bought the place.

PistachioTiramisu · 14/09/2025 13:41

I also think that the series must be filmed in the autumn/winter as there is never anybody in the pools which they show! Cue couple saying how lovely to be so close to a pool in the (tiny) apartment - just you wait until the middle of the summer when it's filled with shrieking, screaming children all day long!!

I live in Cyprus and like to watch this if it’s properties here. But it always seems to be Spain.
What annoys me when they come here though is that the presenters or researchers don’t bother to learn how to pronounce town and village names properly.

Also, everyone wants a spacious 3 bed, 3 bath villa with a pool, massive garden and seaview for 50k.

Badbadbunny · 14/10/2025 09:43

New series started this week. First one, pretty sure the million pound house was a venue for orgies/sex parties with the outdoor beds and bench seating around the beds! These weren't sun beds, they were proper beds! Horrible house too!

deeahgwitch · 14/10/2025 10:00

APITS is my comfort tv watching.
Finally it’s back. Yay !
They just kept showing repeats for months 🙄
My heart sinks when it’s a very low budget for a two bed or a tiny place in the Spanish countryside made of wattle and daub or a cave perhaps. 😀Just isn’t my thing.
They never do the US anymore, sadly.
I loved those episodes. I could dream of a place there to escape our wet and cold winters.
