I haven't watched the whole thing and I dont want to leave spoilers that are material so keeping it vague....

.... i am about to move on to episode 5. But I am finding the complete.lack.of.security around the prime.minister, the president and their families completely impossible to believe?

Anyone else?

Yes! Love the way the PM was hit by a bomb and no security rushed to see if she was ok and there was time for her husband to get from upstairs to see her. Totally unrealistic

MageQueen · 30/08/2025 19:29

Yeah, and post assassination attempt she just drives off in her own car ro save husband and child?!

IGaveSoManySigns · 30/08/2025 19:36

It’s not a documentary

I thought that 😂 how did she get away and into a car
However I quite enjoyed it

tigger1001 · 30/08/2025 19:49

It was an easy watch, but so unrealistic! No security for her or any of her family. Yeah that's not something that would happen.

Alltheyellowbirds · 30/08/2025 19:49

I don’t know, how much security is there around the PM? I don’t imagine it being like it is in the US where the President is flanked by a team of armed secret service everywhere he goes. I know there’s guys outside number ten but inside he and his family might wander round pretty freely.

When I did A level English, we were always writing about the willing suspension of disbelief.

Mind you, I think many TV dramas rely on what I once saw described as the EMS (essential moment of stupidity), without which the entire plot falls to pieces.

Cobbstown · 30/08/2025 19:54

It was totally ridiculous in its lack of reality. I watched to the end but it was definitely meh.

Imicola · 30/08/2025 19:59

Very unrealistic in many ways, i had to tell DH to suspend disbelief and go with it!

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 31/08/2025 14:38

I’m happy to suspend belief over stuff like that (plus i remember Blair’s son being drunk in a gutter and Dave leaving his daughter behind in a pub so the lack of security may not be that unbelievable). However the poor script and terrible acting are making it a hard watch.

MageQueen · 01/09/2025 08:20

Mmm, I quite enjoyed it as a light watch and I can suspend disbelief with the best of them... but they took it too far. Ditto French president not ever having some more secure way to get in and out of embassy?!

I just finished it

I didnt find it good 😭😭

Kind of weak really, even though the army guy is a good actor

Love Suranne jones but its a no from me

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/09/2025 16:30

Also, surely you'd just resign during episode 1 🙄🙄

I kept thinking why is the doctor in Africa when the UK has no drugs (also people would have just bought from Amazon like they do everything else) - shouldn’t medicine sans frontier be working in the UK when it’s in such dire straits. The daughter viewing files, running into top secret meetings, personal phone use, father unguarded in hospital, very silly in so many ways.
