Anyone watched this? It's on BBC4.

It's a lovely, gentle programme - a bit reminiscent of all the mindfullness stuff that cropped up during Covid.

The guy is amazingly talented and the end results are breathtaking. It's all very calm and low-tech. A lovely escape from the madness of the world.

Yes! Just watched the second one, with the amazing difference very slight changes in the horse's legs made.
And the 90 year old museum director sitting cross legged on the floor, brilliant.
Trying to save the third episode for later.

A fascinating watch. DH and I are a bit Japan-obsessed as we’ve been there several times. What I was wondering was whether a museum here would take the same approach to 'restoration' - I’m not convinced the aim would be to make the repair completely undetectable; afaik restoration is often left as a 'mend' rather than totally invisible repair, so the history of what’s happened to an item during its lifetime can still be traced.

But still a great little series. It must cost an absolute bomb to hire their services!
