I’m gutted just when it had got back to being good. Why couldn’t the writers listen to the criticism? I find it hard to beleive they went into this season knowing it was the last. SJP’s announcement on Instagram was so lovely. 27 years in the role I’m sure she will be glad to try something new, she’s a brilliant actor.

I’m not surprised, it was absolutely awful.

27 years? 6 years for SATC and then a 16 year-ish gap and then 3 for this. Even if you count the movies she has a decade without playing the character and she’s done plenty of other stuff.

It’s a shame when something you’ve enjoyed ends, but it probably is the right decision for it to go out quickly.

That was her words 27 years. It’s sad when it had so much potential. I wonder if it was cancellled.

I didn't realise it had been cancelled
I think this series has been the best out of the three of them but I haven't loved any of them I watched then becsuse i was a massive fan of SATC back in the day
I don't think the other characters of Seema, and Lisa work all that well
I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the line they announce a movie.

Surprised and yet not surprised ....

AJLT is/was so unrelatable; SITC I could find some stuff that I could get my head around - finding the right guy (and kissing all those frogs), Carrie being occasionally broke, Samantha's breast cancer, Miranda's surprise pregnancy / Steve's one ball, the heartbreaking miscarriages of Charlotte (I thought beautifully handled). AJLT felt like fluff and nonsense against SITC. Adding two (equally rich) women of colour to offset the four white women of SITC felt clunky; Miranda and Che (last series) didn't work for me at all. AJLT is/was a bunch of rich women bouncing around New York bemoaning their lot - whinging about glam apartments / amazing houses that don't work for them, men that demand too much from them, kids that demand their attention, while wearing clothes clothes clothes (and shoes) to keep (my reluctant) attention.

I give grateful thanks "the woman" in that truly awful "book" that Carrie was writing never gets mentioned again! Snowdrops bowing their heads my ars*.

How/ when did it get good?

greengreyblue · 05/08/2025 08:17

I think they’re getting to 60 now and how long realistically could it go on for? Would be a year or two between series so what would the storylines be?

RaspberryArcadia · 05/08/2025 09:17

It was a little thin regarding storylines in places but I will be sad to see it end. It was quite nice to see women of a certain age taking centre stage and the challenges that come with that. I also found it quite refreshing that they were all still desirable, vibrant and relevant instead of the whizzened, sex hating hags that menopausal women are often portrayed as.
