Pørni - on Netflix

Has anyone watched the Norwegian show on Netflix called Pørni? Just finished all five (short) seasons & loved it!

Pernille "Pørni" is a single mother of two teenager daughters, who also cares for recently deceased sister’s son. They all live with her aging father, who has recently come out & has a real zest for life!

She juggles family drama, grief, demanding cases at work in child welfare services, and complicated past relationships. I love the voicemails to her sister’s phone ❤️

I keep seeing this come up on my Netflix
haven't watched but I will now as it sounds like my sort of thing. Thanks!

Let me know what you think @cromwell44 - I don't know anyone else who has watched it, but like you it popped up as a suggestion so I decided to give it a go.

I watched it in English, so there is a certain amount that you need to forgive there - I can imagine it's better in Norwegian.

I just realised that Netflix calls it Pernille 🫣

I got so used to the credits saying Pørni, I forgot.

I loved it , just finished a couple of nights ago. I live to be as patient as her .

I watched it all over two nights and really liked it.

It’s brilliant. Best thing I’ve seen on Netflix for ages.
it’s so human, warm without being cloying.
I like it almost as much as Shtisel. I like a good foreign family drama more than anything else!

Bonus Family on Netflix is another great family/slice of life drama; Swedish. I loved that too.

This came up on my Netflix suggestions. It’s brilliant. I’m on season 3 so far. I watch in Norwegian with subtitles coz I hate the dubbing.
The only other scandi series that came close was Rita. I think it’s danish

You definitely should. It’s just excellent telly. Love Pørni, and most of the other characters, except the hideous ex husband who I nevertheless suspect will be very relatable for many women of a certain age;)

It's great! Sort of a grittier, more grown-up, Norwegian version of Modern Family but mostly from the point of view of a stressed, overloaded middle-aged woman.

I've watched it all. Loved it.

It's so nice to watch a show that I can really relate to; house is not perfect, she's not perfect, and definitely the kids aren't - but OMG she's a saint!
