Can't see a thread on this? This is Below Deck without the boat. Bunch of entitled staff catering to the 5*+ needs and wants of even more entitled VIPs in a collection of what amounts to some fancy air bnbs in Sydney. Pretty much everyone is fascinatingly horrible, just varies by degree. Whole series on iplayer, 8 episodes. If it's your kind of thing, grab it before Hayu or another streamer snaps it up. Heaven knows why it's on BBC.

Hahah yes I'm going to have a look at Below Deck. I seldom watch TV so usually watch something a bit more serious but this is fun (and I quite like the hot men 😄)

I find it weird that she was a right gobby so and so to Salvatore and hostile to Jasmin but third ep she's falling straight into line. Hmm.

Also, can't get my head round Nicole never having a boyfriend then getting with Matt (?) who clearly knows his way round tinder and the rest! Id be terrified for her! Well, I am!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 14/07/2025 23:24

I’m finding this fascinating to watch but it doesn’t do the company any favours and I’m struggling to see why on earth any of the guests would allow it to be filmed. Do they get a massive discount or something?

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 06:35

Ha ha! Who knows? Maybe too much money gives you a special glow that helps convince you others can only see what you want them to see? All the guests, across both shows, appear to be people I'd pay good money to avoid both as company, employers or working colleagues. Same for the staff. And the amount they all drink makes me feel ill. I don't watch any other 'reality' tv but these 2 shows have slipped under my discernment radar.

Just found it last night...watched first episode and loved it.
But thought the guests were so dull and the staff made a huge fuss...they had five beds to make and rooms to clean up...not exactly onerous.
And the 3 staff sat scoffing their food in sight of the guests at the restaurant was ridiculous as you just wouldn't do that .
The house itself looked nice but not billionaires nice...it's in a road in Sydney I know quite well...yep the houses cost millions but it's not Uber exclusive.
Hoping episode two is less unbelievable

SpikeGilesSandwich · 15/07/2025 13:54

The house without aircon or fans is insane! Nevermind a heatwave, just general summer in Sydney would be miserable without one or the other, I can’t believe they don’t have fans already!

I thought that, but apparently it was something to do with it being a listed grade building.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 15/07/2025 19:47

Yes, it was a heritage building so they couldn’t have full air con but surely they could have ceiling fans or decent pedestal ones! When I was in Sydney, most people seemed to have ceiling fans which were very much needed!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 15/07/2025 19:49

I reckon the tv crew hid the fans to add drama… Grin

Brightasarainbow · 17/07/2025 14:44

Completely agree the fans were a set-up! The house had a house manager, there's no way that they didn't already have fans available for the owners/previous guests.

Elle771 · 17/07/2025 18:12

Just discovered and its my fave love hate watch!

Serpentstooth · 17/07/2025 19:28

Just rewatching ep1. Caviar bumps anyone? Shudder. Glad I'm poor. Also, I've see the tough blonde concierge before, I'm sure, on a programme about the Dorchester? A posh London hotel anyway. I just recognised her backside. In the London Hotel prog she wore an equally ill-fitting jacket. I didn't realise it was a style choice. It could look better.

"He just threw a tanty and left" 😂

I was also thinking it seemed a bit depressing being rich. Going out for dinner... just with no-one else there, makes up so many of the plans. I can't see how that's better than having a good atmosphere of other people having a good time too!

PangolinPan · 17/07/2025 21:10

Haha, I'm glad I'm poor too. I couldn't stand going on holiday and having all these people just lingering around and deciding what I eat and drink, and what I will do for fun.
The casino night in particular was so depressing, no atmosphere at all! Just go to a bloody casino!

PangolinPan · 22/07/2025 16:51

@Serpentstooth I started s11 of Below Deck on channel 4 as I couldn't figure out where to start. Bloody hell, I'm addicted!! And it's dropping one ep a week 😲
Thanks for the recommendation! Or maybe not, been ignoring my kids 🤣

Serpentstooth · 22/07/2025 17:34

😅 glad to hear it Pangolin , enjoy it while you can. I can't imagine having huge amounts of spare cash and spending it so vacuously but I get odd satisfaction watching other people do so. You couldn't pay me enough to get on one of those boats 😀

On episode 5. The excesses of the very rich -“just broken a £7k lamp”, fireworks just for them, helicopters… while we’re washing out our yoghurt pots and recycling our papers!
Someone said on here that it looks dull and lonely-I agree, having the meals with the same 5 people then playing casino etc with no other interactions and the paid staff singing happy birthday is not the same as your mum making a cake and your children and family all around you. They all have their phones taking photos for insta too-they’re not really enjoying it and always looking for fault, especially in this episode-it makes you realise it’s not fun having lots of money!

Rafting2022 · 26/07/2025 12:11

Shows you can’t buy style or class.

purpleme12 · 04/09/2025 09:39

Bump

LeaAndDer · 04/09/2025 10:25

It feels like their first guests. So disorganised. Also money doesn’t buy class.

LeaAndDer · 04/09/2025 11:03

The bin is too far for me to walk to. Really? These people are unbelievable.

Serpentstooth · 04/09/2025 13:20

😅 keep going, nobody improves 😃

Jasmin “a lot of energy gone into the dinner “ a cake bought in, then fireworks in the back garden. Yeah tough to pull off.

TitsInAbsentia · 08/09/2025 21:53

I accidentally caught this a few weeks ago when it came on the bbc after we were watching something else...hooked me right in with their ridiculous behaviour! JB sitting there smiling smugly thinking someone is going to get bollocked and then they don't was bloody brilliant - gutted it was only 8 episodes!

Ineedabiscuit · 15/11/2025 21:10

I’ve loved this but keen to see Below Deck now . What shall I start with, do you recommend starting at the beginning with season 1 or go straight into the latest ?
Are there there 2 different types, US and Ozzie Below Deck ?

Rafting2022 · 15/11/2025 21:56

Below Deck Mediterranean is the best imho!
