How to start watching a soap??

I feel that I would like to try a soap for a bit of fluff telly but they all seem utterly bewildering to get into with the numerous backstories and ongoing drama.
How on earth do new viewers start?

You'll pick it up easily. As a soap lover, I can assure you're they're really not rocket science. Give it a few episodes and you'll easily decide if you like it or not. I personally prefer Coronation Street bit also watch EastEnders.

I dip in and out of soaps, usually able to pick up, you don’t need to know what’s been going on previously as story lines change really quick in soaps. We like Coronation Street as there’s a bit of humour in it, Emmerdale is an easy watch, I’m afraid I can’t cope with the doom and gloom of Eastenders, although if I channel surf and see it on, I do end up watching.

After a couple of weeks you'll get to know a lot of the characters and you can look up previous stories online to get the background on the characters. I only watch Emmerdale now as most of my viewing is US shows.

Agree, you'll catch on after watching for a while xx

You can just google the characters to get their backstories or put faces to names as and when you need to. There are lots of fan wiki pages out there.
