Over the Covid period I carved out a Friday afternoon sci-fi space - it’s hard to break the habit now.

Must admit it’s not always easy to separate Foundation from Dune: Phophecy in my mind …

The trailer is making me scratch my head - someone alive who I thought had died. Will wait and see rather than filling the thread with potential spoilers.

Errands and chores to get through first, but fingers crossed I’ll be watching sometime this afternoon.

I can’t be doing with 1 episode a week. I’ll wait till it’s all dropped I think.

Now that I’ve watched it I’m quite glad there’s only one episode available!

I love everything about this show - the production, cinematography, sound world, the slow unfolding and complex politics - whilst at the same time finding it all more than slightly ridiculous.

Gosh I had to scroll a long way to re-find this thread! Possibly I’m the only person within 5 thousand miles who’s watching this season.

And as ever, I’m not sure why I’m watching it. It’s so compelling, hypnotic almost, and I look forward to Fridays when it’s on, but Lord - it’s long. And I always know what’s going to happen before it does.

The insuperable difficulty is that I feel, if I were one of the movers and shakers in that civilisation, I probably wouldn’t go to a whole load of effort to save it.

Is Anyone Else Watching??? Can you say why?

I don't usually like sci-fi but I weirdly like this. I think it's the immense, mind-blowing scale of the thinking – the idea of looking so far ahead and planning on such a massive scale.
And Jared Harris is utterly compelling. I'd watch him reading out the phone book.
