Slow Horses back on Apple TV in September

Is anyone else a fan? I've read all the books, after seeing them recommended some years ago. Consequently I was worried about watching the television adaptation as such things are often disappointing, but it is absolutely superb.

I subscribe to Apple TV for each new series and then cancel it once the run is finished :-)

Big fan here! Thanks for the heads up.

I haven’t read any of the books, and I was a bit late in getting to the tv show. But once I got round to it, I binged the blimmin’ lot. Brilliant.

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll look forward to that.

Brilliant. I thought the next series was years off. I read all the books after the last one.

Queenage · 11/06/2025 07:03

I saw that, cannot wait for this

skippy67 · 11/06/2025 07:32

This is wonderful news!

Looking forward, although the previous season felt a bit samey. I’ll likely wait until all episodes are on there and then watch them all to save money. I see The Morning Show is also back in September.

I really loved s1 and 2 but then it just seemed to degrade into a tedious shootemup. Got so bored in the last series. I hope we get more character stuff this time!

LittleBitofBread · 11/06/2025 13:10

The first two were wonderful, but I didn’t love the most recent series. I didn't quite follow the plot and it felt like things from the book had been cut/glossed over, which made it confusing.
There was also too much of River being in France while the others were in London, and I think a great part of its appeal is the relationships between everybody in Slough House.

Oneearringlost · 11/06/2025 13:16

Oh, fantastic. Jackson Lamb is my dirty crush.

BunfightBetty · 11/06/2025 13:42

Love both the books and the series! I didn’t think the last series went off, on the contrary, I really loved the focus on River and his background. I would have preferred to see more of Jackson Lamb though. Such a fantastic cast, but even so Gary Oldman acts the rest of them off the screen every time he’s on.

I wasn't impressed with the third series at all and couldn't follow the plot, it seemed very disjointed.

Reading the last few comments I thought there were three series’s, but I just checked and there’s been four. For me season 3 and 4 blended into each other. I hope there’s new writers for the fifth season.

Lynz301 · 11/06/2025 20:01

I can’t wait! I’m a huge fan of the books and think that the tv show has done an exceptional job of translating them.

Oh yes, my mistake. I do remember season three now I've read the episode guide. I quite liked it, but I still think the first two seasons are the best.

There’s a new SH book out in August I believe too! I’m looking forward to both the book and the new series!

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 15/06/2025 18:25

Absolutely love it. Now S4 wasn’t quite as good but I’ve since read that it was more difficult to adapt from the book, but the last episode made it make sense.
Gary Oldman as Lamb is superb. And I like a clean man but I still slightly fancy him in that dirty coat and I’ve no idea why. I think it’s because he F bombs regularly, and his voice is phenomenal.
Kristin S-T as Taverner is the polar opposite. Ruthless and ambitious. A wardrobe to die for.
Standish - I am in my 50’s and I just cheer her on because whenever she gets overlooked, up she pops being brilliant.
Guy - I love her hair, her energy and her sheer physical bravery.
River Cartwright - amazing. Also, have a huge crush on him which is slightly inappropriate as I am old enough to be his mum. When I heard his Scottish accent in real life I had to put a cold tea towel over my head.
I could be here all day.
Worth the Apple fee alone, which I kept as I have just finished Friends and Neighbours which was great, too.
