So boring

A whole season of weirdness followed by one episode of action

Shite ending

Waste of time 😔

It's a shame that you didn't enjoy it. A lot of people including me loved it though

Perhaps 'weird' stuff, Sci Fi etc is not for you?

Rafting2022 · 30/05/2025 05:26

I didn’t get the fuss about Severance either. A great idea poorly executed.

Junn · 30/05/2025 05:50

Did you enjoy the first series? It followed on pretty much as expected in terms of ‘weirdness’. I loved it.

MoominUnderWater · 30/05/2025 06:02

I forced myself to watch a few episodes of season one and thought it was the biggest load of crap ever.

Pemba · 30/05/2025 06:03

I think it just went over some people's heads tbh.

Ha ha, probably 😁. I mean I don’t feel i didn’t understand it, I just thought it was dull.

Pemba · 30/05/2025 07:12

Well we all like different things I suppose, with me it was one of the few shows that I watch where I didn't want to keep looking on my phone at the same time. I was never bored. Waited for it all week and even listened to the Apple podcast. I told my daughter about it, and she and her partner were the same.

What are some programmes you do like?

Tiredofwhataboutery · 30/05/2025 07:17

Like a pp I felt like I needed to watch it properly rather than half arsed on in background whilst I do the housekeeping jobs. I really liked it.

susiedaisy1912 · 30/05/2025 07:18

I liked the first series but got bored part way through the second series and gave up.

WaffleParty · 30/05/2025 07:20

Takes all sorts I guess! I thought it was one of the best things on TV for years.

CatOnAHotRadiator · 30/05/2025 07:24

I really enjoyed it. It actually made me put my phone down and concentrate. Especially the snowy episode (no spoilers).

game of thrones, succession, breaking bad, slow horses, yellowstone, line of duty.

quite a mix, but I guess stuff with quite a bit of action rather than more slow paced stuff.

Pemba · 30/05/2025 07:44

@MoominUnderWater See I did enjoy Slow Horses, I thought the acting was great but I did lose concentration at times which never happened when I saw Severance

And Yellowstone, I've watched 4 of the series but it's an effort. Most of the characters are so violent and that seems to be presented as normal/good. The daughter Beth is horrible although I get she's had a difficult early life. I think I need to stop watching really. They act like out of control teenagers yet you're supposed to think they're all rugged or something and admire it I think? Not that I am against violence in a drama if it's necessary, for example the characters in The Sopranos are also ultra violent yet it's a lot more witty and complex etc.

I agree on Succession, it was brilliant wasn't it?

Pemba · 30/05/2025 07:47

I have this thing where I tend to switch off (not literally) with long action sequences, car chases etc. I realise that's probably the opposite of most people lol.

MoominUnderWater · 30/05/2025 09:02

@Pemba yes, loved Succession. Which I suppose for me is a non “action” type show.

The characters in Yellowstone were all pretty dreadful, I don’t think we were supposed to like many of them 😁

MoominUnderWater · 30/05/2025 09:05

I couldn’t get on with the Sopranos either which I appreciate is unusual. Think I got halfway through season two and gave up. I couldn’t tell anyone apart, the top bloke excepted, so never had a clue what was happening. I have bad face blindness so loads of dark haired Italian men merge into one.

CatOnAHotRadiator · 30/05/2025 10:45

See I didn’t get on with Succession at all which I think puts me in the minority.

susiedaisy1912 · 30/05/2025 11:02

I tried Yellowstone after waiting ages for it to come onto Netflix. Hated it the characters are vile.

Lottapianos · 30/05/2025 14:05

'See I didn’t get on with Succession at all which I think puts me in the minority.'

I think that Succession and Severance are absolute Marmite shows. They don't grow on you, you either love them or hate them right from the beginning.

MAFSQueen · 30/05/2025 14:08

I found season 2 of Severence very slow indeed.

the goats/sheperdess stuff was strange.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 30/05/2025 16:00

Even on this thread there is such a mix of stuff I loved severance, slow horses, stuff I also thought was good silo, fallout. Couldn’t get on board with sopranos, yellowstone or succession at all.

SantasLargerHelper · 30/05/2025 17:12

Agree OP. I was so disappointed as I loved season 1.

My fella thought the same, and he'd subscribed to Apple specifically to watch Season 2 having loved 1.

We are enjoying The Studio on there.

Pemba · 30/05/2025 17:37

I liked the way in Severance season 2 they had expanded the idea, and the world in which Severance existed. Like Harmony Cobel's visit to her hometown, which explained so much about her. They took ages filming just that episode, choosing the location etc. It was beautifully shot and acted. I can't believe people would think it is not well done.

The whole concept is such a mind game. I think (hope) the actual procedure would be impossible, but it has echoes of things that have happened in the real world. And the ending is such a cliffhanger, what does innie Mark think will happen to him and Helly next? He is so desperate to continue on his own journey and love story, and not just be a simple alternate to outie Mark with no will of his own, which is what outie Mark seems to think. Pretty stupid of him really as a college professor!

WomensRightsRenegade · 30/05/2025 22:47

Loved series 1 of Severance - loathed every minute of the second series. A real endurance test.

Me too, I loved season 1 and was super excited for the second and barely got through it 😭
