Would love to find other stuff!
Can't stand reality stuff.
We liked White Lotus, Breeders, often watch HIGNFY.
Enjoyed a couple of the recent docu-dramas - Mr Bates, the Pan Am ITV one.
In crime we have been watching Poker Face, loved Slow Horses (ok it's spy but close), liked Ludwig, Elsbeth, Shetland, Happy Valley, Bosch, we are a bit over Death in Paradise.

We have Netflix, Apple TV and Prime but not Disney.

Apologies if you suggest something and we've seen it! We've seen a lot of older stuff I haven't mentioned.

Blue Lights, Unforgotten, Strike, Moonflower Murders, Karen Pirie.

Bit old-fashioned but if you liked Ludwig you might like the US series Monk about a brilliant detective with crippling OCD - and there are lots of series of it!

RedBeech · 29/05/2025 23:20

Have you watched some of the recent classics like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mad Men, Handmaid's Tale, Severance, Succession?

boatyardblues · 29/05/2025 23:58

I may be preaching to the choir here. I started Department Q on Netflix today. It’s good so far. I was sufficiently inspired to download the novel it’s based on.

I finished a Korean crime series on Disney+, Nine Puzzles, at the weekend. In some respects it is similar to Department Q - dimly lit, retro police station and gloomy lead detective, well cast and well paced. It has a quirky profiler in the same vein as Sherlock. The profiler and lead detective have history which is unpicked as the story unfolds. It’s left open for a second season.

Have seen Blue Lights, loved it, also Unforgotten and Strike, will try the other two!

Seen all of those except Severance - liked the ones we saw except I'm letting DH finish Better Call Saul on his own but couldn't get on with Succession.

Have not seen Department Q! Will try it.

Any NON crime thoughts??

The Ruth Ellis drama?

LadyGreySpillsTheTea · 30/05/2025 21:42

If you like Ludwig you’ll also like The Residence on Netflix - jokey clever whodunnit with a birdwatching theme, think it was made by Shonda Rhinestone, who also does Bridgerton and Grey’s Anatomy. In that same vein there’s also Knives Out and Glass Onion.
PP mentioned Monk: also good for a binge but slightly showing its age now for tech-related episodes.

LadyGreySpillsTheTea · 30/05/2025 21:44

Obviously Rhinestone was a hilarious autocorrect (thanks iPhone), but I think it suits her well…

MaryGreenhill · 30/05/2025 21:46

We loved watching Adam Dalgleich , George Gently , Hinterland, Morse, Lewis, Endeavour, Sherlock, New Tricks, Inspector Lindsay.

drspouse · 30/05/2025 21:47

We saw The Residence and Knives Out, and Glass Onion. All great!
(Yes we watch too much TV).

Good American Fanily is Disney, I think. Otherwise I would add Only Murders in the Building.

Second the Dalgleish recommendation.

If you like true story dramas- Last Breath is v good

drspouse · 30/05/2025 21:51

We are an adoptive family so might give that a swerve @Enko. Loved The Split though.
@MaryGreenhill think we've seen all those!

OP posts:
Endiof · 30/05/2025 21:59

The Blacklist, House, Yellowstone.

drspouse · 30/05/2025 22:12

Have seen House but will check out the other two!

MaryGreenhill · 30/05/2025 22:15

Have you watched The Sinner and Mindhunter ?

drspouse · 30/05/2025 22:32

Neither of those!

But still hoping for some non crime recommendations for us crime types.

OP posts:
boatyardblues · 31/05/2025 00:05

Mindhunter is pretty bleak and unsparing. It is tonally similar to the Hannibal TV series but greyer and more depressing (IMO).

quintessentially166 · 31/05/2025 00:17

If you like crime try Scandi Noir series you can watch with subtitles or some are dubbed,

recommend The Bridge. Modus. A Nearly Normal Family,

RedBeech · 31/05/2025 07:55

Have you seen all the Shetland series? I'm biased because Dougie Henshall and Mark Bonnar on one screen😍

balcoly · 31/05/2025 08:59

Only murders is crime but much more lighthearted & comedic.

Day of the Jackel

The Night Agent

Big little lies

The Diplomat

lionesses

Fleabag

This Country

AIBU

Queens Gambit

Dept Q

Endiof · 04/06/2025 06:17

I have recently started watching The Man in the High Castle on Prime, only 3 episodes in but seems good.

Brooklyn70 · 04/06/2025 09:04

Just watched Our friends and Neighbours on Apple tv and it’s very entertaining

millionaire hedge fund guy that loses job and starts robbing his equally obscenely rich neighbours

Ooh that sounds fun!

Seen Derry Girls, Motherland (not sure about Amandaland - watched a couple), Day of the Jackal.
