Sky tv is it worth it

Not sure where exactly to post this, just looking at the subscriptions we have for Netflix, prime etc, genuinely find very little to watch on any of them, so those who have experience of sky tv, is it worth ditching all the subscriptions and giving sky a go , thing that puts me off is prime etc are easily cancelled whereas with sky , if it’s not what you hope, you pretty much stuck with it for 24 months

We have sky, I don’t get time to watch the tv anymore due to DD but it was very worth it, there’s box sets and movies and I definitely watched it more than my Netflix

sciaticafanatica · 17/05/2025 15:10

It’s honestly not worth it!
the movies are repetitive and very little new stuff.
the big shows are available on “ Now Tv” which is easily cancelled

ZebraPrintt · 17/05/2025 15:16

Absolutely not

whostolethecookie · 17/05/2025 15:18

No
expensive and nothing to watch
tied to a contract

Beyondburnout · 17/05/2025 15:25

Cancelled it a couple of years ago should have done it sooner. Have prime, netflix and disney+ there is still nothing to watch.

minipie · 17/05/2025 15:29

Never had Sky never missed it

Plenty to watch on Netflix and Iplayer, occasionally we get a free trial for Disney or Amazon and there’s the odd thing on there

Depends how much tv you watch I guess

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 17/05/2025 15:32

I cancelled it about 2/3 years ago and not fussed. The only reason I kept it as long as I did was the recording box but everything is on catch-up anyway.

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/05/2025 15:41

I think Sky TV is worth it for what I watch (such as live sport) but why don’t you try NOW TV first? Sky own NOW and you get most of the Sky channels (depending on how much you want to pay) but you’re not tied in to a contract. Try NOW for a month or two and see how much you use it. If you use it a lot, it might be worth looking at Sky to get a cheaper deal but if you don’t use it, you’ve only lost out on paying for NOW for a short time.

WhineAndWine1 · 17/05/2025 16:41

we have it and I wouldn’t cancel it. I also have most if the streaming services and I think we watch sky more

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/05/2025 16:44

We have changed our broadband etc to sky earlier this year and have found lots of tv to enjoy so far.

I think after two years we’ll have worn it out probably, but for now it’s good.

Netflix is included

Same. I also have Netflix, Paramount and Prime but only use them to watch specific series / films that you can’t see elsewhere (such as Yellowstone) but for regular/daily use Sky is the most frequently watched.

Debbie0045 · 17/05/2025 16:51

I have sky tv and I love it. I watch loads on Sky Documentaries and Sky Atlantic. But as someone else said, NowTv have a lot of their stuff.

I read somewhere else that someone only ever has one subscription at a time and they rinse it, cancel and go to another one, do the same and repeat.

Found that to be genius!

Justploddingonandon · 17/05/2025 16:59

I looked at it but everything I wanted to watch was on NowTV so got that. I subscribe for six months at a time as it’s cheaper, but they offer monthly if you prefer.

Sadcafe · 17/05/2025 18:36

Thanks for the replies, seems now tv might be a better option , don’t watch a lot of tv really but have totally exhausted what I want to watch on the other streaming platforms

I have had Sky for years as I like the convenience and watch it a lot but subscribing to Now TV definitely seems the best option if you just want a change from the other streamers and watch the Sky programmes

Lovewine1975 · 18/05/2025 14:36

I think it’s worth it for us as we do watch a lot of tv, DH loves it for the sports and me for the movies, Sky Atlantic, I like the fact you can record and download shows and movies etc we have easy access to all the streaming channels, but it is expensive
