Just been watching Kirsty and Phil on series one, the first episode, back in 2000. They look so young !

A two bedroom flat in Hackney , 108k. How much would it be now ?!

A two bedroom house in London £240k , but two years earlier was £120k.

This was London prices too, they said this was above national average prices.

Just so shocking that in just two decades prices have gone up so much and outpaced wages. Wages would never keep up with that!

Anyone else watching the 25th anniversary programmes ?

And Phil taking photos with a big Kodak camera, long before camera phones of course !

I recorded them as I was watching The Game, they were on channel 4 so should be on catch up. Just going to have a look now at them

so many of the original contestants, well one in particular, were very posh, that would be toned down now

The property they showed at the end in York as a what else could you buy for 100k is worth 900k now!
I loved watching the first ever episode, I wonder what happened to the woman on it.

I felt the same about the woman and I’d also love a follow up episode that went back to those properties also to see what they’re worth now!

I'd like to see that episode where a youngish (early 30s) couple were shown a Georgian house which was above their price bracket, but she said she would eat beans on toast for a year as she had to have it.
Can anyone else remember it? It was such a gorgeous house.

I’ve bought 4 houses in that 25 years and about to be a 5th - I feel like it has tracked my whole adult life!

I was buying my first just as the first series came out. Crazy.

deeahgwitch · 19/05/2025 16:08

Kirsty sounded posher in the earlier programmes.
Those suits 😮😀
I mustn’t have watched the early programmes as I don’t recall them.
Did anyone notice Kirsty kept twiddling her new wedding ring (bless) when chatting with Phil about past programmes.

I only saw a few minutes and wanted to say ‘Look, just kiss and end the ‘Sap and the Crisp, Bossy Head Girl’ sexual tension!’ I think I hadn’t realised it had been going on quite that long…

Also, does Phil wear tinted lip balm or have naturally very pink lips?

Me too! I’m on house 6. I remember watching first series on my new TV in first flat I’d just bought (I feel like LLL and Jamie Oliver programmes/books which also started around the same time for me, tracked with my life).

If I think back over 25 years of homes, my favourite location that I’ve lived in has featured on LLL several times over the years, I love seeing the ways it’s changed and how much my property would have increased had I stayed there, but you live and learn, but home buying stays the same, as it really is all about the location!

BlessicaBlimpson · 19/05/2025 17:00

I was looking up the property locations on Zoopla all the way through - looks like they would all be around £400-450k now, except the Stoke Newington one which looked like it was closer to £600k (presumably because of the Overground - 25 years ago the transport link weren't great).

What’s your favourite location @StillCreatingAName?
