alex ferguson?
eh what are you talking about

moodlumthehoodlum · 19/05/2008 20:59

me neither. I think it will be compulsive almost switching off type viewing.

moodlumthehoodlum · 19/05/2008 21:01

Duchess of York helps the obese of Hull 'eat better'

Fridayfeeling · 19/05/2008 21:04

I think Alex Ferguson would do a better job mind you.

Hoping that the family will be sufficiently working class stereotype to get extra patronising angle in

OP posts:
Hulababy · 19/05/2008 21:05

Apparantly it is a working class obese family.

moodlumthehoodlum · 19/05/2008 21:07

She is dreadful.. Sorry, but she is.

Heated · 19/05/2008 21:09

And do they have large earrings, tracksuits and gobby teenagers?

I can't watch

messycow · 19/05/2008 21:21

aaah its like car crash tv

Heated · 19/05/2008 21:59

Did see her on the so-called 'news' earlier on and wondered if SF is very botoxed? Very few muscles moved in her face, but then maybe I'm just being unkind and she was just paralysed with nerves.

getmeouttahere · 19/05/2008 22:24

The DOY is a Patronising bint.

suedonim · 19/05/2008 23:08

I don't have this prog where we are but I did see a clip of it on TV. She looked far from botoxed, to me, definitely going baggy round the edges! She was talking a load of drivel about how she's coming back to the UK to live, but she doesn't know how the public wil receive her and what the reaction will be blah-de-blah. Like anyone is interested.

turquoise · 19/05/2008 23:14

I expected to loathe her but (in spite of the awful Oprah style self help psychobabble) I thought she was quite warm and sincere. Dim but nice.

Same with the family, it looked as though they had gone out to get the roughest bunch of waynettas possible, but their humanity shone through.

I hated the way the camera zoomed in on the dad when he started to cry though, nasty.

nametaken · 19/05/2008 23:47

turquoise I absolutely echo everything you've said here. I expected not to like her but she wasn't in the least bit patronising.

And yes they did try to get the roughest bunch of chavs they possibly could but the family were nice too.

I like Sarah, anyone who has been through the shit she has and comes through is a winner in my book.

Saturn74 · 19/05/2008 23:49

I thought SF did OK.

messycow · 20/05/2008 01:03

i think if the family sold all thier gold bling they would be able to feed themselves for 6months on the profits.

They say they cant afford fresh fruit and veg...yet the grandad was trying to give them if for free?

And living on the poverty line??? poverty line my ass! They had walkers crisps, heinz beans and pg tips tea bags.

wrinklytum · 20/05/2008 01:07

Well,Its never dull in Hull,y'know

(Wrinkly returns from twilight shift in darkest 'ull.)

Up the Tigers!!!City for promotion!!!!

solo · 20/05/2008 01:09

Sarah fan here too.

The mum needed to see a dentist! to get some teeth.

I felt sorry for Grandad, he is a diamond and they didn't want to eat his home grown veg. I would jump at the chance to have free home grown veg and fruit.

SueW · 20/05/2008 07:12

I wondered about the botox too. Her face was v mobile - lots of smile lines round her mouth, in her cheeks - on snippets of the show but in live interviews shown on TV throughout the day her face barely moved. Why do people do that to themselves? Like that former supermodel who sits in judgement of gorgeous young things on the model prog (Next Top Model?) - has she looked in a mirror recently?

i missed the first half hour

i found the second half very patronising, dull and frankly an embarrasment

such sage advice:

eat more veg!

don;t smoke!

get more excercise!

clearly, rocket science, that only the duchess was capable of imparting.

will watch tonight and see what happens

the family seemed very close though.

jalopy · 20/05/2008 08:16

Her face looked embalmed.

southeastastra · 20/05/2008 08:18

it did look embalmed. she's freaky looking.

katebee · 20/05/2008 11:41

I found the programme sad ..just made me want to cook that family a nice healthy meal with lots of vege! Was shocking to see the 13 yr old boy smoking after getting back from school.

I think Fergie was brave to do the programme and she came across as normal and caring to me.

I think she has been treated very badly by the royal family and the press..I think I've read that she is never able to spend Christmas day with her girls as they go to Sandringham with the Royal family and she is not allowed anywhere near..would have thought the royal family could at least invite her for the odd meal and be civil.
