Want something we can watch as a family, ideally a series but one-off ok. DS has concentration issues, so its great when we find something that he gets absorbed in and focuses on.

Loves football, school related things, slapstick type humour!

Things hes previously liked are Ted Lasso, Friends, Gavin and Stacey, Beckham documentary where he helps a kids football team, A League of Their Own, Grange Hill.

Any ideas welcolmed!

Taskmaster?

BeetyAxe · 13/05/2025 22:34

We watch 911 with our son, modern family, Young Sheldon and the the Big Bang theory.

FionnulaTheCooler · 13/05/2025 22:35

My teenager liked Scrubs and My Name is Earl.

cherrycola66 · 13/05/2025 22:36

We used to watch big bang theory as a family, you could try the Wednesday series? There’s a nice series on Netflix called one day at a time, very family friendly, lighthearted, funny.

ladyflower23 · 13/05/2025 23:16

Comedies my 13 year old DS loves are Friday Night Dinner, Last One Laughing and Stath Lets Flats.

He liked the Beckham doc on Netflix which was about his life/career. There was also one on Messi that he enjoyed.

Umanresources · 13/05/2025 23:25

I’d definitely agree with Taskmaster, we’ve watched all the series several times, some are a bit more hit and miss. We also enjoyed The Middle and I think there are 11 series, just very funny and family friendly.

musicalfrog · 14/05/2025 07:30

Did you watch Crackerjack with Sam and Mark, that was brilliant slapstick, us parents loved it too. 😄 Hopefully can be steamed still.

ChocHotolate · 14/05/2025 07:50

Bizarrely, my 12 yr old DS really loves call the midwife. We are rewatching from S1

Treeleaf11 · 14/05/2025 07:54

The Wrexham football documentary on Disney

DoraChance · 14/05/2025 07:58

Friday Night Dinner is pretty good. We’re also watching Superstore with DS12, he really likes it

FloraBotticelli · 14/05/2025 07:58

Modern Family (think it’s on Amazon)

Would I Lie to You (iPlayer)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 14/05/2025 08:00

Superstore
The Middle
Derry Girls (dd13 loves this)
Young Sheldon
Big Bang Theory
Brooklyn 99

BeetyAxe · 14/05/2025 08:05

Oh yes Superstore, how could I forget, we liked that a lot. Although there’s a lot of sex based jokes which can be a bit cringe but it’s the same for a lot of them.

peafritterandcurrysauce · 14/05/2025 08:13

Don’t think anyone’s said Malcolm in the middle. Really funny, family friendly.

Flyhighlittlepigeon · 14/05/2025 08:17

“Freddie flintoff’s Field of dreams”

great programme where Freddie takes unsporty random people from a working class area and creates them into a cricket team

BigfootSmallButtons · 14/05/2025 15:14

Cobra Kai!

TokyoSushi · 14/05/2025 15:17

We watched something called Football Dreams, it was about the kids in the Crystal Palace academy, really interesting!

CocoPlum · 14/05/2025 15:23

DS has recently enjoyed Stranger Things, The Rookie, Young Sheldon, Brooklyn 99, Abbott Elementary, Modern Family.

We also watched Adolescence as a family, it's a tough watch as it's centred around a 13yo boy but opens conversations.

The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan
Fawlty Towers
Dave Gorman's Modern Life is Goodish

And as everyone else has said, Taskmaster.

Also, Creature Comforts, which is streaming on itv x. It's the Aardman series, with the clay animation animals, voiced by the British public. Each one is only 10 minutes long but It's a nice thing that my dc like to watch at the end of the day.

RoundSquareWithTriangles · 14/05/2025 20:32

David Mitchell's Outsiders

ThumbTowers · 16/05/2025 13:29

Would I Lie To You (bbc panel show, fast pace and funny, no swearing)

Ghosts (bbc)

Race Across the World (bbc)

I suggested Dave Gorman's Modern Life is Goodish, however there is one episode called "I Love Eggs", and the first part of it is definitely NOT suitable! Blush

parrotonmyshoulder · 21/05/2025 21:50

I agree with lots above. Modern Family and B99 in particular.
We’re currently bingeing all 15 seasons of Bob’s Burgers. Delightful family comedy - give it a couple of episodes.

PrincessScarlett · 21/05/2025 22:00

My 13 year old loves Friday Night Dinner, Gavin and Stacey and This Country.

The Wrexham football documentary on Disney

My 13yr old ds loves this series, it's where he learned the word wanker 🤣

Ds doesn't really enjoy telly too much but we're watching Blue Lock on crunchyroll if you have that...it's a Japanese football anime. He also likes The Darkest Minds film, a football doc about Captains at the World Cup from a couple of years ago and the film Holes.
