Very happy for Iceland. Ditto. I didn't expect to like it but found actually I did.

Surprised about Azerbaijan. Not at all surprised, awful vocal.

The Belgian performance was weak, which is a pity because it was a decent song. What!! It was the worst song and performance of the night. Number one on my list to get rid.

Really liked Italy.
I can't warm to this year's Ukrainian number.
We agree on these last two points.

Also really liked Estonia, San Marino and Netherlands.

Iceland was fun. I liked Jedwardson.
I'm glad they got through.

Belgium wasn't for me. The instrumentals seemed much louder than the singer. Was the sound balanced correctly?

Azerbaijan's lead singer's voice was awful. If the song was good, he ruined it.

Portugal's song is nice but it's a bit dull.

Switzerland's song is sweet. She gives a nice performance. Did something go wrong with the cameras?

I still really like Italy. I'm glad to see that others like it too.

I think Ukraine's entry is interesting and quirky.

I think there are often songs that don't seem great in performance but are really great 'radio' songs- and also others that sound pretty dull on the radio, and only make sense when you see the performance that goes with them.

The holy grail, I suppose, is getting one that combines the two. A good song, and visually memorable (for the right reasons ).

I think nerves really got to a lot of them, and fair enough.

Azerbaijan's lead singer sounded like the Beegees, and Red Sebastian was barely audible at the start and off key in parts.

The sound mix was really weird, with lead vocals too low for many acts, not helped by nerves affecting their volume also.

But it was a really tightly produced show and even finished on time!

Am I the only one who absolutely adores Ukraine song? It gave me goose bumps when I first heard it, the female “oooh oh ooh” is a real ear worm, and musically I love the guitar solo and the drop silence moment. As well of course the sentiment of the song. It’ll be on my favourites playlist.
