I’ve recently watched Ordeal by Innocence (meh) and Towards Zero (awful) - are there any good ones?! Preferably ones that don’t change to actual story too much (I have read almost all of the books, so I know the plots!)….

The Ustinov Evil Under the Sun is GLORIOUS. Takes a few liberties but nothing earth shattering and Maggie Smith is a complete joy.

Similarly I love the Finney Murder on the Orient Express which is true to the book and I quite like Finney's Poirot.

Avoid Branagh at all costs. There should never be a gunfight on the Orient Express.

Not a fan of all the ones that crowbar Marple or Poirot into non Marple/Poirot stories.

Most of the Suchet ITV ones are great - watched Cat Among the Pigeons with my kids recently and it was really well done.

Death on the Nile
mine and my siblings go to every time.

Oh, I agree that the Kenneth Branagh films are dreadful! The Peter Ustinov films are so much better.

Thanks for all the tips, I will take a look at the ABC Murders one and the And Then There Were None. As well as some of the older adaptations with David Suchet, I don't think I've seen many of those...

Nothing beats Death on the Nile with three of the best hams in Maggie Smith, Bette Davis, and Angela Lansbury. The plot is pretty good too!

Endless Night with Hayley Mills and Hywel Bennett from 1972 is a decent adaptation.

Most film / tv adaptations are good, watchable with David Suchet and Joan Hickson being my favourite Poirot and Miss Marple. However, the last two produced for tv are dire imo and
that's due to trying to fiddle with plots for 'modern' sensibilities and very poor casting.

I read somewhere that Agatha actually wanted Joan Hickson to play Miss Marple.
