Cancelled Sky - now what?

Trying to keep costs down now, and Sky is too much - £49.50 pm. On top of tv license, prime, Netflix etc.

I’ve tried negotiating a better deal with Sky but they just can’t seem to offer anything reasonable, which I find staggering - especially as they keel bleating about me being a ‘loyal customer of 10+ years! I spent ridiculously too long in a text convo with someone who kept offering tv and broadband deals with me persistently telling them to stick to tv as I initially requested, and in the end I just got annoyed and told them to proceed with the cancellation!

Thing is, we like and watch some of the Sky channels (mainly Atlantic and showcase)! So not sure if I should try with them again, or is there another way?

I’d try and stay off it in your shoes. There is loads on Netflix prime and Iplayer. After a while I bet you won’t even notice.

If there is one series you really really want you can sometimes buy it through Now TV or amazon prime. (Depends if it’s sky exclusive of course)

You’ll be ok. Perhaps you can cycle through Netflix/now tv/disney etc for variety. We do this and it works well. Currently Netflix is quiet so we will sack that off for a bit and maybe get Disney for a few months.

Nowtv is sky, I've never paid more than £7 a month for their tv channels and usually if you say you're leaving the drop it down. I've had it as cheap as £3 a month.

Thanks for the reassurance; I really hate change 😅

@MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel I have been looking at NOW tv but their website is very confusing to my poor brain. I might try contact them directly as I’m sure they’ll some deals for a new customer!

Decide what you want to watch, then wait until the series has finished and all the episodes are available. Cancel Netflix and sign up to Now. Binge watch the Sky shows over the course of the month then cancel Now and decide which platform to subscribe to for the next month. I rotate Now, Netflix and Disney plus. I try not to have more than one at once.

Whatever you do don't move to Virgin Media. Their new 360 boxes are absolute dog shit.

We have now tv. Currently paying £4.99 a month for their entertainment package, which includes sky atlantic. No contract, cancel whenever, and they always have lots of offers on.

I get a subscription for a month or two, watch what we're interested in and then cancel it and move to something else at some point. There's no need to have so many at once.

I would immediately y set up a direct debit for £50 a month to a saving account and then find something very nice to spend it on after a year (£600) or 5 years (3 grand!)
