US TV series - early 2000s?

This is long shot as I don't have much to go on. I remember really enjoying a US drama series, perhaps in the early 2000s. It only ran for a couple of seasons then I think was cancelled. It was about a group of late 20 something friends living together I think somewhere fairly liberal like San Francisco. It definitely wasn't New York or a big city.

It wasn't a sitcom. The main character was a very nice looking actor who, in my head is a bit like Oliver Hudson, but it can't be him as I've been through his imdb. Focus was on love lives, work, money etc but nothing majorly heavy.

I remember enjoying it and would love to watch it again. I potentially had sky TV at the time although feels more of a late night channel 4 thing back when ER was on.

Any ideas??

I think I know this - did the main guy have curlyish hair?

Ddakji · 21/02/2025 20:00

Thirtysomething?

Oh 30 something was good but that was the 90's.

Were the characters gay?

Yes. Curly slightly roughed up hair. They all did at the time. Think also whatshisname from party of five/lost. That look.

No I don't think they were in it.

They were young enough to not have kids in the show. Think more like New Girl sort of ages.

I know you said no to the wayans brother, but I went down a rabbit hole for myself, and the one in my head is Happy Endings, only 2 seasons.

Ooh, two guys, a girl and a pizza place? Vintage Ryan Reynolds? 🤩

Not the Australian show The Secret Life of Us?

I loved that show.

One thought was 'Jack and Jill'

Chat GPT says the following:

"What About Brian" (2006–2007)
This drama focused on Brian, a single man in his 30s, and his group of friends, many of whom were married or in relationships. It was set in Los Angeles and dealt with themes of love, friendship, and navigating adulthood. It ran for two seasons.

"Relativity" (1996–1997)
A romantic drama about a group of friends and family members in their late 20s and early 30s living in Los Angeles. It was short-lived, running for one season.

"Quarterlife" (2008)
A web series turned TV drama about a group of creative 20-somethings navigating relationships and careers. It had a modern, introspective tone but was canceled after one season.

"Once and Again" (1999–2002)
While more family-focused, this drama explored relationships among adults and their extended social circles. It had a thoughtful tone and aired for three seasons.

"Miss Match" (2003)
Starring Alicia Silverstone, this show centered on a matchmaker balancing her career and personal life. Though not strictly about friends living together, its tone aligns with your description. It lasted one season.

"Men in Trees" (2006–2008)
Set in small-town Alaska, it followed Marin Frist, a relationship coach adjusting to life in an unconventional setting while forming close bonds with locals. It aired for two seasons.
