This started last week. Just found e1 on demand

It's a bit like eat well for less as in the family live off connivence food and worries about health and finance

So learn to cook from fresh /scratch

Has the annoying or loveable 😂 (depending what camp you are in) Joe Swash as the host

But I do like food programmes like this

E2 is on Monday

So they seem to spend time cooking and freezing so they they don’t have to cook after work

Charlotte was adorable 🥰 and the little boy has eyelashes to die for!

That thing with smashing avocados through a cooling rack was bizarre, surely you just scoop them out with a spoon and bung it in the bowl 🤷‍♀️. I didn’t know you could freeze them though so I’ll try that, I always end up with half an avocado going horrible in the salad drawer.

Joe Swash is bloody annoying and wtf is going on with the bizarre cardigan and half bared chest thing?

Puppupandaway · 25/02/2025 22:27

One thing I've learnt from this programme is that you can cook with frozen veg then refreeze it after cooking. I always thought you couldn't do that.

Enjoying the programme but I do wonder if Joe Swash practises what he preaches....

I doubt it, but I suspect his wife does.

I know the people in this programme aren't confident when it comes to cooking, but I am surprised how much the co host (and I haven't checked out her on whatever site she uses) relies on more expensive 'cheat' items. Like when making the pizza straws why buy 'pizza sauce' when you already have tomato paste and herbs. I regularly make these and yes I use ready made Pastry as I am crap at making pastry.

I’ve been a fan of The Batch Lady for years (since lockdown) - her prepare ahead method isn’t rocket science but felt revolutionary to me at the time. Things like freezing things in bags flat so they stack nicely in the freezer, the grab and cook bags - raw ingredients frozen, bung them in a pan or slow cooker, genius!! I’m delighted to see her on the telly preaching to the unconverted 😃

Poor program. Very little cooking involved. Lack of credibility being fronted by that well-known chef, Joe Swash. I doubt I will watch the rest.

It annoyed me that the fresh cottage pie won as the quicker dish over the frozen when they said the carrots were hard - because they hadn't been cooked for long enough! I gave up after that.

GoldenKiwi · 28/02/2025 20:46

Im amazed at how they got their weekly shop down to under £100. Is that actually possible these days? Like - your entire weekly shop. Packed lunches, fruit, the lot. I can only assume it is because they would be eating some ready made (batched) meals from the freezer?

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2025 14:17

E3 tonight

the shah family are struggling to cook for all dietary requirements and find favourite

The lady presenter has loads of YouTube videos that are better than the show. Shows her cooking multiple meals at once etc. "The Batch Lady".
Few books on Libby too

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2025 20:37

That’s a busy household

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2025 20:37

£200 a week on takeaways 🙀

how do people afford it

OP posts:
ODFOx · 03/03/2025 23:57

This family were such a great fit for the show.
I really enjoyed the episode.

LionalRichTea · 04/03/2025 00:26

I watched these so far and love the batch lady and have all her books!!

Tbh I kind of wish that she just had a cookery show on her own where I could watch her and hear all of her tips and advice as there's not lots actual of take away tips and recipes for superfans like me 😂! Love Joe etc but I just don't think we need another show with this similar format!!

Maybe she will do a Xmas batch special or something 👍🏻

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/03/2025 11:48

So she basically makes double and puts one in freezer

OP posts:
mydogisthebest · 04/03/2025 13:23

Just watching. I can't believe she says only 28% of families in the UK all eat the same meal. Almost every family I know all the eat the same meal even ones with children

Acunningruse · 04/03/2025 15:40

Just watched the first one. Thought the recipes and principles were very simple but clearly what the family needed. Absolutely mad that they were going to the shop 17 times a week?! Spending £250!

Did anyone else think the mum just seemed absolutely ground down by life/borderline depressed? Made me wonder what job she did as she seemed utterly exhausted and had no patience for the kids.

FrenchandSaunders · 04/03/2025 19:33

Surely all that shite can’t be good for
crohns!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2025 17:54

Tho having 4 adults and in laws. Amazed they didn’t cook

OP posts:
SydneyCarton · 06/03/2025 10:51

I loved how enthusiastic the teenage son was about cooking by the end of the programme!

Londonmummy66 · 06/03/2025 19:26

Just wanted to thank @Clutterbugsmum for the Amazon details - I've been meaning to get these for ages so a set of each has arrived today. Feeling v organised as I had a big pack of chicken breasts so now have two hasselback chicken breasts in the fridge in a new glass dish for tomorrow and the rest of the pack all prepped and in the freezer. When I last shopped for freezer containers it wasn't possible to take glass straight from the freezer to the oven but the info on Amazon says these are up to it.

Just in case anyone else is looking to order - these are perfect for us as it is usually just me and DH eating together but if you are a family you might want to try and find larger sizes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2025 19:02

E4 tonight

the brooks mealtimes are mayhem despite mum Erin’s best efforts

can batch cooking transform her disaster pasta and barf bolognese into flavoursome fare

prob not

if she can’t cook then surely double one to freeze isn’t going to make it taste better

tho obv it will 😂

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2025 20:10

Bns and chocolate

I like both

But not together

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2025 20:27

Tho the veggie Tom pasta dish looked ok

And the sausages egg Mac muffin. Ans cooked in 2mins in microwave

OP posts:
Carriemac · 10/03/2025 20:35

That is a freakishly clean family kitchen

BrennieGirl · 10/03/2025 20:46

There's no way a standard sized chicken takes two hours to cook.
