It's so bad but as it's half term I'm tuning in

I much prefer Alison and Dermot to Ben and Cat

Has it had its day, like a lot of itv shows? What would replace it?

I really enjoy it 🙈😂 everyone on Mumsnet seems to moan about it but for me it’s just something to have on in the background as I scroll / work online / have a tea or whatever. It’s like a lightheaded magazine. I like all the presenters.

drivinmecrazy · 20/02/2025 11:16

Never watch it.
But for some reason it's always on on the waiting room at my hospital.

I'm there a lot recently and hadn't noticed that the TVs are all set to ITV (with subtitles) til DH commented on it the other day.

It's a vacuous load of shite as far as I've seen.

Do people actually watch it by choice? 😳

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 11:22

Munsnet in general hate it whilst watching it I mean they must be torturing themselves daily 😀

TM is fine to have on and dip in and out of and I quite like Ben& Cat.

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 11:23

I didn't watch when it was phillip and Holly because they used to act like everything was a personal joke that "we" weren't involved with .

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 11:27

Sorry meant I stopped watching when H&P got too smug.

Futb · 20/02/2025 11:31

I like Ben and Cat, though I don’t watch it. I might flick on for 5 mins whilst waiting for something else to start but I couldn’t watch it when Holly and Philip were on. I was sick of the sight of the pair of them on the screens for years and years. I like Dearmont and Alison.

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 11:41

Some of it is absolute rubbish they do have some sensationalist stories and guests I turn it over because it doesn't interest me,

Big claims from someone who has 'never watched it'

RIPVPROG · 20/02/2025 11:56

I can't vote because I did watch it when I was a student between lectures, but haven't for years other than when I had surgery last year and was housebound for a bit, it's mindless but fairly harmless which I think is the idea for weekday daytime TV

Same , it’s like a bit of company and I love Alison, she is a real ray of sunshine

BobnLen · 20/02/2025 12:12

I'm retired and have it on in the background, I like some bits like when they are discussing series on the telly and the news bits, also like Martin Lewis bits when he is on., I occasionally watch the cooking and fashion items. I don't mind having a mix of presenters and like Alison

BobnLen · 20/02/2025 12:19

I'm not sure what would be in its place as most people probably don't watch solid telly of a morning, BBC has a similar programme on at 9:30 which I also dip in and out of. These type of programmes aren't really meant to be sat down and watched all the way through as people often are doing stuff, One Show in the evening is similar.

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 12:24

My mum watched the BBC programme in the morning they do a lot on scammers and fraud which is great for her because she's always talking about the phone calls she gets, she listens to a person on TV better than me or siblings 🙄 😀

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 20/02/2025 13:13

It is a bit of company during the day - especially during the winters when I'm less active

I stopped watching this year as I'm trying to listen to more music 😭, I dont like some of the news segments as I'm a bit of a leftie

But I thought, I love Alison and dermot and cant do half term without it, especially as dd is unwell

I liked Holly and phil 🤭🤭 but agree, they got too smug and seemed to be mocking the guests towards the end

Just can't warm to ben and cat tbh

I dont own a tv even if i did i wouldnt watch it its crap the same as the rest of day time tv.
Soaps are even worse.
I dont hear the news either as i dont own a radio.

goingdownfighting · 20/02/2025 13:42

It's a guilty pleasure of mine on the occasions I can tune in. It's like Bella or Prima magazine on the telly but with people reading it out to you.

purpleme12 · 20/02/2025 14:03

Honestly I used to love it with Holly and Phil and I know people frown on that on here 🤣
And I've always loved Alison anyway

I don't warm to Cat and Ben like I did Holly and Phil but it's more that I don't have time to watch it anymore really. Not so much that I don't like it

Coffeeishot · 20/02/2025 16:51

Holly and phill turned on each other really quick though not so "pally pally" now eh!

PrincessScarlett · 20/02/2025 16:59

Agree OP that I much prefer Alison and Dermot to Cat and Ben. Nothing against the latter but I just feel more warmth from Alison and Dermot. And they are much funnier too.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/02/2025 17:00

I have it on in the background when I'm working, it's quite nice background noise.

Edited

No radio or tv

It's okay to enjoy life girl 😭

Do you watch shows on your laptop/tablet?

Yeah they do seem less serious compared to the other two

It's true, I wish they'd ditch the politics though personally

Definitely, just something to keep you going really and to mark the days

It sounds weird but when the tv schedule goes haywire after Christmas, I feel weird

I’ll sometimes put it on on a Friday, when it’s Alison and Dermot.

I can’t watch Cat and Ben. Cat Deeley is dreadful at presenting this imo. Ben seems nice enough but I wonder what possessed him.
