Has any one been on Love it or List it?

I wonder how much help Kirstie and Phil actually offer. It seems now that most householders are expected to organise the builders and do every thing themselves after an initial suggestion or maybe a plan from the programme? Anyone could view houses in the vicinity themselves, so what is the actual point?

I have no idea how to go about redesigning a kitchen and the house layout myself, so I am curious.

I enjoy watching it but I do wonder what the point is of them paying to have all that work done "just in case" it tempts them to stay. It's a massive upheaval (but then without it there would be no programme 😂)

I’m not sure there is a point other than getting yourself on TV , which apparently appeals to lots of people . They’ve never done anything other than show you the ideas and a few houses , it’s always AFAIK been the case that the builders are found by the people . The same could be said about Location , Escape to the Country etc it’s just about getting on TV . From the TV companies POV all the time there are viewers they will still make the programmes .

I guess they help people who have no vision when it comes to how their house could look if they remodeled it and used it differently. For some just some plans on paper isn't enough nor is it something they could have thought of themselves, but they need to see the finished product.

I would imagine most people stay, ad they do everything how they want it. I have watched the Australia one and the love it presenter actually designs and commissions the changes without the owner. They just come home to find out that he added plantation shutters and a laundry. No way I would hand my keys over without a clue what would happen!

I would be tempted to apply but of contestants are expected to source everything and find the builders themselves I couldn’t do that.
