Yingers74 · 04/05/2008 23:22

Time to move to a house on a hill

bran · 04/05/2008 23:23

What chanel is/was it on? I might be able to catch a repeat.

I'm right on the Thames, so if the Barrier ever fails my building will be underwater within minutes.

themoon66 · 04/05/2008 23:23

Lots of lovely British character actors in this. Am enjoying the drama and will definitely switch on for part 2 tomorrow.

SmoothandWilkie · 05/05/2008 19:48

I did watch last night and will watch again tonight but god, the acting is shite!

mehdismummy · 05/05/2008 20:28

how very dare you about the great great sir robert of carlyle!

PictureThis · 05/05/2008 20:41

I agree some of the acting was a bit ropey, but I really enjoyed it.

So did I - but the acting, particularly the head honcho woman of Cobra did tend to overact IMO. Made me chuckle though!

What's with the super fast camera shots though wehre they speed up? Really drove me mad!

mehdismummy · 05/05/2008 20:47

am i safe in highgate! I live at the highest point

NotABanana · 05/05/2008 20:48

We lasted about 15 seconds and then watched 24 instead.

BouncingTurtle · 05/05/2008 20:52

That film was complete shit, we turned it off after about 40 minutes.
Read the book by Richard Doyle, miles better - also very scary stuff. My mum lives in near one of the areas that gets flooded!

NotABanana · 05/05/2008 20:58

Part 2 about to start now.

Erkdontwanttogetsoggy · 05/05/2008 21:22

It is really silly and a bit hammy but I'm enjoying it - need something to watch while I do the ironing! Though claustrophobic tunnels full of water - urgh one of my worst nightmares.

claraquitetirednow · 05/05/2008 21:25

OK am I missing something - why don't people just go into high buildings? There's plenty of them in central London. And why did that idiotic man and his daughter stay in their car inside the underground car park (which was obviously going to get flooded)? And how did the deputy prime minister et al drive from Whitehall (Cobra) to "Cobra 2" without getting caught in gridlock??? There are so many questions about this load of tripe....but I'll probably still watch the 2nd half which we currently have recording!

expatinscotland · 05/05/2008 21:26

robert carlisle's bird will live. he will probably cop it.

the daughter will live, the chap's going to snuff it.

Sidge · 05/05/2008 21:28

Watched it last night, twas ok.

Realised part two is another two hours [yawn] and decided to watch Batman instead!

mehdismummy · 05/05/2008 22:03

i know its all very disaster. But the fit young underground worker would get a good (slightly soggy) seeing too! Well if you are wet and waiting to be rescued you may as well!

Merlin · 05/05/2008 22:05

I am wondering where all the rats are?

PictureThis · 05/05/2008 22:06

They're all probably nice and dry in the MANY TALL BUILDINGS in London.

OP posts:
barnstaple · 05/05/2008 22:08

We got it out on dvd Sat night, not realising that it was on tv! Complete waste of money. The dvd was dire; we couldn't think of a worse film. Is it better on tv? Seems much longer - 2hrs on 2 nights? They must have cut a lot from the film, which made it truly appalling, or else there are a heck of a lot of adverts.

mehdismummy · 05/05/2008 22:10

good point why are they not in the high buildings?

expatinscotland · 05/05/2008 22:10

it's really, really, really DUMB.

Sidge · 05/05/2008 22:11

I kept saying that to DH - all those muppets running down the street as the water headed towards them. Why not just leg it into the nearest tall building and run like chuff up the stairs?

PictureThis · 05/05/2008 22:11

Because that would be far too easy
