Snail - I am thinking Samantha Barks, though I suspect they’re not a stage trained singer. Mainly because she was a judge in that ITV Mamma Mia show, and was in Les Mis (French link).

I was thinking her from the clues for the same reason, but I just don’t think it sounds anything like her
