Come and join us for wild speculation about David Tennant, Sheridan Smith and the occasional correct guesses.

No one is missing Rita Ora.

Just watched The Strop. Omg. What a diva!

I still can't believe that Macy Gray would suffer from such a sense of humour failure when willingly participating in such a wonderfully silly, ridiculous, lighthearted show as TMS! And she's done it three times now!!

Maybe she was mistaking Joel Dommett for Melvyn Bragg Grin

It was toadally ribbiting!

Unfrogettable!

Notyouthful · 11/01/2025 22:30

There’s usually a sports person in TMS. Wasn’t one in last year’s.

Notyouthful · 11/01/2025 22:39

This was Macy Gray’s third appearance on TMS. She was in the Australian one and the US. She did something similar in the Australian version. Read the Trivia bit the-masked-singer.fandom.com/wiki/Atlantis_(AU)

FerretChops · 11/01/2025 22:39

@MabelMora lol. What are you on about?

FerretChops · 11/01/2025 22:40

@MabelMora just seen you've mixed him up with Quincy GrinGrin

MabelMora · 11/01/2025 22:46

I'm a numpty!

Clueless on Bear

I think it’s Jay McGuiness

TwentyKittens · 11/01/2025 23:14

Wolf is 100% David Essex!

Stationclare · 11/01/2025 23:26

Macy was gutted. Bush was the weakest singer. I though that she would go.
Then when it came to judges vote I was convinced bear would be off. Toad was voted off for the wrong reasons!! Glad wolf/marti still in!

burnoutbabe · 11/01/2025 23:26

I thought bear may be jay from five? But he didn't appear in recent boy band documentaries so I assumed he'd left the industry. He could do the rapping and sound will smith ish.

JaneJeffer · 11/01/2025 23:41

QueenOfThorns · 11/01/2025 21:12

Not miles older than previous guesses like Billy Idol, then! Funny, David Essex is someone I think of as firmly before my time, whereas the 80s were my formative years, so those guys seem much less old Grin

A Winter’s Tale was out in1983 which was probably his last big hit? Aah the memories as they say on ITV3 Grin

I think Bush might be Morgana Robinson - does Sonia impression and was on NC podcast recently. She was born in Australia... And was in an episode of inside number 9.

Sounds like you're onto something

I thought Wolf could be Adam Ant until I height checked 🤔

Yes, he did a little dance move/kick thing that was very Adam Ant until I also remembered he's short.

MabelMora · 12/01/2025 00:09

Now I'm flipping back to the mitre thing not being a mitre and actually representing a pharaoh, with the Nile reference as well, and it being something to do with Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. Not the Donobot surely 😱!

Too soon for it to be Philip Schofield trying to make a comeback?

What I'd maybe do if I were a producer is announce it in advance; show a one off episode of just them, including the panel's guesses (edited if necessary) then show the series as a whole as normal, but without the panel's guesses for the deceased contestant.

It depends on how well they did tbh. If they won the whole show then I'd just reveal their identity in advance and then show the series as normal. If as an audience member I'd known in advance that (say) the late Quincy Jones was Bear then it wouldn't stop me watching, and there are no particular reasons of taste why you wouldn't show a very silly but basically respectful show featuring a deceased star.

Thanks very much - some really properly considered plans; albeit it only (we hope) theoretical!

I agree: I don't understand why there's the automatic rush to cancel showing anything once a person featured has died. Of course, if it's something grim - like, say, Rebecca Loos 'helping' a pig - but when it's all a nice tribute, touching memory, showing them in a good, respectful light, I don't get it.

Obviously, you'd want to check with their family and follow their wishes; but if anything, I'd think it was a bigger snub to just write them out of the picture as soon as they've gone rather than keeping nice memories of them in everybody's thoughts.

ShampooCoveredTurd · 12/01/2025 00:42

Everybody (quite reasonably) going on the height for a big clue: wouldn't it be possible for them to put boosts or similar in to disguise a shorter person so that they look taller? It would be fab to have everybody screaming "Take it off!" and eventually unmasking Giraffe as Warwick Davis Grin

It could also be fun if a celebrity who hadn't been on TV for some time, but who was always very well known as quite a considerably overweight person, had privately gone on a big health and fitness drive and lost a load of weight before going on the show. Nobody would ever guess unless they did a Lenny Henry with their voice!

That guess is straight from a Twitter post!

Morgana is quite tall. (5ft 8)

She would fit the 'rather obscure person who everybody has to pretend to recognise' brief. but she seems taller and more svelte than what I think is inside that Bush.

Bush is Kerry Godliman

She loves gardening
She was in Derek

wriggleigglepiggle · 12/01/2025 09:16

Someone has commented on the Daily Mail article saying they were in the audience and they were sent home and didn't see the unmasking

Yes, I think it's her too.

Caught up now as was out when last night's episode was on.

Wolf is definitely Marti Pellow. He isn't as good as his first performance on this suggested imho, which was partly why I originally thought JD.

I now think Bush is Holly Willoughby. Sounded less like Natalie Cassidy last night and lots of the "clues" fit. There's no IACGMOOH link for NC, but there is for HW and HW was in Ted Lasso for the coach clue.

Yes that's what happens at all the MS shows. The audience leave for the unmaskings. Otherwise, you'd have loads of audience members blabbing about who the celebs are and it would totally ruin the programme.(obviously they film the 'take it off' shouty part before they all leave)

NigelHarmansNewWife · 12/01/2025 09:32

Just coming back on some of the Wolf clues. The telescope had a plug and chain dangling off the end - another lame WWW clue. There was a reference to going it alone, i.e. going solo after having been in a group and the capital of ancient Egypt was Memphis, which is another reference to MP's album Moonlight over Memphis. I rest my case. But MP should never, ever sing Copacabana again. It was awful!
