Anyone else watched this? Original Patrick Troughton series cut down from 10 episodes to 1.5 hours. Interesting, entertaining and very cheesy sets. At least half the men look they are wearing wigs - was hair really that luxuriant back in the day?

Yes, it was that luxuriant, but I think Troughton wore a wig for the role.

I watched it in black and white when it was first broadcast.

Might give it a go. Anything's better than the monstrosities we've been given in the 2020s. I have always been a massive Doctor Who fan, but think it's shit now. I'm done with new Doctor Who now. The glory years for me were ones with Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith. (Though I don't mind the older ones.)

Troughton was "my" Doctor. I was traumatised at the age of 60+ when I found out about the alleged circumstances of his death.

Not really...but somewhat surprised.

What circumstances?

At a convention in the US. It was alleged that he was in the company of a fan, though his Wikipedia merely says that he had a heart attack after ordering breakfast. Apparently he was quite a ladies' man.

I watched this and whilst the colourisation itself was really excellent, the edit absolutely wasn’t. I’d encourage anyone who wants to see this story to watch the original ten episodes via iplayer.

Oh! I did read his wiki after your first comment and didn't see anything untoward, which is why I asked.

He's always been one of ny favourite classic Doctors. Along with Peter Davidson and Tom Baker.

Yes, he was the first Doctor I enjoyed - Hartnell used to frighten me when I was little!

I wondered about this, the action was pretty rapid. The styling reminded me oddly enough of the Red Dwarf where they are on a waxwork world planet with famous people from different eras.
Do you know where the original is available?

If you have audible there is a great Tom Baker Doctor Who serial called the Hive of Horror I would highly recommend.

The original is on the BBC iplayer. On my screen, the colourised version is shown at the beginning of Season 6 and the entire Season 6 is then shown in order with the original episodes of The War Games at the end.
