I have to start this topic.

Am I the only one who thinks this new format of having one episode and 4 diners all squeezed into an hour has ruined the show?

I used to enjoy watching the 5 parts, seeing what they were cooking, mistakes etc. but it just rushes through now and totally misses the point.

Or thats my opinion anyway. At least they didn't get rid of funny voiceover man who makes it watchable.

You're not alone. Squeezing it all into an hour takes away so much of the interaction between the contestants that made it great, plus having 5 people instead of 4 gave so many more opportunities for little triangular allegiances to form and dissolve. Basically, there's not enough room for the backstabbing now!

I still watch and enjoy it, but it's not the same

is it on tonight ? I quite like it this format...I love looking at people's houses - I imagine they all feel a bit sick and fed up by the end of the week !

unknownrebelbang · 01/05/2008 18:58

I prefer the previous format (although at least this way I get to see the whole programme).

posieflump · 01/05/2008 19:00

what time is it on?

janestillhere · 01/05/2008 19:01

8pm. I love it.

CocodeBear · 01/05/2008 20:56

I've never seen the old format so I'm blissfully happy with what I've got. You mean it used to be better?

WestCountryLass · 01/05/2008 21:00

That woman was a right old misery tonight.

CocodeBear · 01/05/2008 21:02

There's always one. Though the 'hand relief' line was funny.

littlerach · 01/05/2008 21:10

Thinj th eold version i sshown on Sunday evening on More 4. It's on for hours.
And yes, it is better.

hifi · 01/05/2008 21:11

its ruined. i loved the bit where they nosey around the house and show where they shop.the opening sequence is crap. im going to look at the producer/director and complain.

fishie · 01/05/2008 21:12

yes it was loads better but i never got to see it either, at least this is more convenient.

jalopy · 01/05/2008 22:09

I absolutely love this programme. Was alarmed to see that they have crammed it all into one programme. I tend to tape the 5 programmes on Sunday afternoon and watch it at leisure. It's so addictive. Not at all interested in the cooking.

Tommy · 01/05/2008 22:11

thought there was something wrong with it tonight! Agree that 5 people are better as well. The cooking is irrelevant isn't it as they are not all the greatest cooks but I think it's hilarious

poshwellies · 01/05/2008 22:49

Totally agree,I much prefer the re-runs on a sunday where you get to see each persons dinner party for 30mins.

I am addicted to it,sunday afternoons are dedicated to it in this household.

I did laugh at the 'hand relief' comment.

hifi · 02/05/2008 16:21

can you clarify please posh, the re runs are the full programmes of the ones in the week? or not?

jalopy · 02/05/2008 17:26

On Sundays I think they are full programmes of old ones, iyswim.

hifi · 02/05/2008 17:33

get it, thanks.

Celery · 02/05/2008 17:37

You can see all of series 2, 3, and 4 for free on 4onDemand. I'm currently in bed with glandular fever and working my way through each and every one. It's keeping me sane.
