A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. Hello chingus, thanks for the new thread Boaty. I've been away having not watched as much Kdrama this year but looking back I still got through a fair few. Currently on A Shop for Killers which has totally swept me up, love love love it, and rewatching the odd episode of perfect marriage revenge because it's so so so cheesy and satisfying. Will be watching the updated list so I can add more dramas to the catch up list have definitely missed a few this year. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to 2025!

With the recent political happenings in South Korea, I felt moved to learn a bit more about the country's transition from authoritarian/military rule to holding democratic elections. In addition to a bit of light research I watched12.12 The Day. It's available on Viki (USA), so you will need a VPN to watch it, but I recommend it highly if you're interested in the subject.

I feel a beach bod ready summer calendar beckons, perhaps from midsummer (21 June) to the start of the school holidays. It would help peanutcookie reach the finish line. I’m not volunteering, just putting it out there. 😉

I have a VPN. How do you trick Viki? Does it just offer a different region’s content automatically when you route it through that territory? There’s loads of Viki content we’re not able to access, so I fear for my productivity if it’s a simple switch.

Aaaand now I remember what I actually opened the thread for. So, Will Love In Spring - enjoying it massively, but WTF are those really oddly placed non-cliffhanger episode endings about? It’s like they got the whole thing in the can, did a light edit & someone just snipped it into 45 min slices. It doesn’t quite end mid-scene, but it’s not far off. Is this a common cdrama thing? The pacing feels off.
