We binge watched this over a few days this week and really enjoyed the gentle humour and tackling topics around aging but in a sensitive way. Enjoyed seeing a few familiar faces from The Good Place and some great older actors.

Looking forward to the next series now. Wonder how they might extend it. Maybe a cruise would be interesting but limiting the interaction with his daughter / the PI. Coach tour? Or a day centre?

I watched this and loved it! Reminded me of the Thursday murder club series. Having worked in a similar environment, I loved how they portrayed the residents as well - characterful, humerous and knowledgeable. Not just doddery "old folks" in a lounge! I can't wait for the second season.

I’m late to this but we’ve just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s a lot of bloated and overlong shows on Netflix so it was good to see one that was just eight 30 minute episodes. As has been pointed out, there’s a Thursday Murder Club vibe to it, although the crime solving element is really a MacGuffin to get the Danson character into the retirement community. It’s a cleverly-written comedy drama that touches on issues of family, friendship and loss in old age and you will need some Kleenex at times. I’ll add that Ted Danson is in very good shape for a gent of 77 years old.

Agree, I thought it was a very sweet and likable little series. Ted Danson does a lot of the heavy lifting but he is more than up to the job.

It was a bit creepy when they digitally de-aged him in the wedding flashback at the start. He looked like Sam from Cheers but also ... not ... the physical movement was all wrong.

I’ve since discovered that A Man on the Inside was inspired by a Chilean documentary called The Mole Agent, which tells the true story of an 83-year old man who goes undercover in a retirement home. I’ll now have to fork out £3.49 to watch it on Prime.

I’m inspired to start saving for a retirement home.

Enjoyed it. Looking forward to next series.

I started watching it as I love 'The Good Place' but didn't get on with it very well. I loved that Sean and PillBoy were also in the cast.
Perhaps I should carry on with it.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 20/01/2025 13:14

@MadameCholetsDirtySecret it was a little slower paced than The Good Place. I am not sure if that was intentional.

My main takeaway from the series was that Ted Danson is an absolute silver fox! Very very good shape and very charming. <fans self>

I thought the show was nice. Enjoyed the first few episodes but drifted away. Might go back to it.
