Sons of Anarchy - what am I missing?!

Everyone seems to love SOA and it got rave reviews everywhere, but WHY?!?

The "good guys" (Jax and Tara) are extremely unlikeable and lack any chemistry.

The storylines are bizarre and the whole guns/drugs/IRA stuff is so overcomplicated with all groups betraying and killing each other constantly that it's impossible to follow (maybe I just stopped caring). Everyone seems to be murdering each other and there is no explanation as to why anyone would be loyal to a club that clearly does not protect and in fact constantly murders its members (or members of their families). No one cares about club members who go to jail and Otto's life is just completely destroyed by the club with no consideration at all for him or his family.

Gemma and Unser are the only characters that stop me from switching off. Clay and Twig are meant to be ultra bad guys but they are a lot more likeable than the "good guys".

At the moment I'm feeling it's one of the most overrated shows ever. What am I missing?!

I was going to say enjoying the show hinges on whether you think Jax is fit or not but I didn't want to be the first one to lower the tone

Ugh... I've persevered with it but it just gets worse 😣 the gratuitous violence (mostly of innocent people for no reason) is just beyond belief. Jax has turned into an actual monster and I always root against him in all his endeavours that never make any sense, but somehow he always survives despite being 1000x worse than Clay ever was and completely charmless. Tara has also turned into a monster. Absolutely hate Gemma with the new guy- at least they had chemistry with Clay and he was quite likeable. The new guy is too much Mr Perfect and they're not believable together at all. All in all - I still don't get why people love this show so much.

We gave up at some point, it just got worse and worse. The whole Irish bit was terrible, absolutely embarrassing.

I find the most interesting story associated with SOA to be what happened to the actor that played Half-Sack. You couldn’t make it up. Absolutely awful.

Yes that was so awful what happened to the actor - life imitating art.

The storylines in SOA make no sense and Jax is literally betraying and killing everyone, so I don't understand how any of the other gangs can make any deals with him, as he literally always screws everyone over.
