Apple TV help please

Got a 3 month free subscription with new phone.

1 recommendations of what to watch please (yea I know there's other threads) I like crime dramas and melodramas and medical dramas mostly

2 how when searching can you filter so you're only seeing the results that are free to watch please is this possible? I hate that so many subscription services you now have to pay EXTRA for the best content so annoying! I feel it's quite misleading but they are all doing it now apart from Netflix I think?

I didn’t know there was content that was more than subscribing, so can’t help there (although understand as this irritates me on Prime).
Must watch Slow Horses, absolutely brilliant.
I also enjoyed Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. Don’t think I found anything else on Apple, just cancelled it. Will revive for next series of Slow Horses though!

Another vote for slow horses - it's so good. I really enjoyed the morning show too. Criminal Record with cush Jumbo is great but only 1 series. I did watch all of ted lasso and enjoyed the first couple of series. Also hijack with Idris x

There's a lot of great stuff in Apple TV, really worth it, I get it free (ongoing) with my bank (Barclays) which was a pleasant surprise when I found out

I dont currently have an Apple TV sub, but am hoping to find an offer soon (though have been told as I have already taken up an offer I wont get another )

So dont know this for a fact but it seems to be something a lot of people are asking and this is one reply on an apple forum.

Just select the Apple TV+ tab and you will see only the free shows that are available for you to watch without any of the extra shows that may have a rental fee or require a subscription. There are times when you will see extra content on this page to watch that are not produced by Apple like you saw for last month. They are just freebies and do not follow a specific schedule. Just keep checking and you will also be given notice when they are going away like they did last month.

I wasn’t aware Apple charged extra for stuff and I’ve had it for months and watched everything free. My suggestions:

I think I’m the only person in the world who tried Ted Lasso and found it very dull and not very funny. But everyone else seems to like it.

Severance was incredible which is a sci fi/ thriller/ drama mix.

I like Apple but I always end up cancelling it as there just isn't enough to hold my interest and the interface is so clunky. Defending Jacob was good. And Hijack although got a bit daft.

I don’t use the app for Apple TV, but I think what you are referring to is the fact that Apple TV app allows you to watch content from other providers? For which you will need a subscription for those channels. The recommendations you have received above are all Apple TV created content so you should be able to watch them for free in the app without any difficulty? If you are trying to filter, you need to ensure that you are selecting shows only available on the Apple original TV content, hope that helps! Happy watching!

To add to the already excellent recommendations above, I’d also add Acapulco which is an absolute 80s riot of a show.

As pp have said, all Apple content is free. If you just search the section for Apple Originals then you'll be fine.

I find Apple tv weird and boring. It's also impossible to cancel easily if like me you don't have an apple phone.

All the shows are massively drawn out. Ted Lasso was good for about 4 episodes. I'd probably like Slow Horses but it's not worth 10 a month. Severance suffered from Lost syndrome.

I have a free trial at the moment and I’m enjoying the British series ‘Trying’.

I had the same deal when I bought my iPad.

Watched Severance and Dark matter. Dark matter was the better of the two, but both were pretty boring tbh.

Might try one more series before it expires but I won't be renewing.

If you log in via the Apple TV web site its easier to use.

Also using the web site to search for shows, films etc., is better.

And if you use the "add to watch list" or whatever Apple call it, then they are there when you login via whichever device you use to watch.

Mine is streamed to tv, but find using the app on the tv really difficult.
