From the director of Tiger King.
The most bizarre thing I’ve watched in ages. I binged it yesterday & today. It’s on Sky.
Some Americans & American laws (or lack of) are actually insane. If you liked Tiger King, you’ll love this.

It was bizarre. There does seem a theme of the women (there weren't really any male chimp owners featured) using the chimps as babies or children that never grow up. There was a lot of referring to them as "their son", "their child", etc... and very little knowledge as to how to care for them (I'm no expert but could have told you that Mc Donald's and spray cheese are probably not the best diet for a chimp).
I didn't get Alan Cummings involvement in this, he hardly was that concerned about Tonka for years, so his attachment didn't seem genuine. What about the other chimps that were in that film, where is his concern for them?

Yes I did wonder why Alan got involved, he didn’t seem to mind so much when Tonka was being used for entertainment purposes.

I also thought it was coincidental that the majority of the male chimps either died or were killed in their teens, when they got too difficult to handle.

Im not sure why chimps or any monkeys are deemed a good baby substitute either as they’re hairy, dirty & smelly.

Half way through it, shocking!

Binged this yesterday. Completely bonkers!!

Yes, I found it a bit coincidental that Chance died as we was entering the teenage, unmanageable zone.
If you can only use an entertainment chimp for max 15yrs, what does Pam do with all her chimps that age out of the business. She also seemed to have scammed Sandy (Travis's owner) to buy Chance and was trying to get another sucker to provide her with a chimp during Chance's "funeral".
I felt sorry for Tonya's son who seemed quite empathetic and reasonable (albeit being put on an impossible situation). It must be horrible to have a mother that puts pets above you, but he seems quite understanding in saying that she doesn't feel he needs her anymore and wouldn't believe him if he said he did, that Tonka is the replacement child that never grows up and that he is worried shitless about how this is all going to turn out.
