Interesting watch tonight at the end to read that the secretary of state rejects most of the panels' decisions to go to open prison

Love this programme, really interesting. Haven't seen this week's but sometimes can't believe how plausible some people's are then when out on parole completely muck it and end up back in prison.

Possibly I have worked in prisons for too long as I didn't think any of them were plausible this season!

Particularly not the guy who would do anything at all to be with his family but was known to be on drugs 2 weeks prior.

It was interesting to see the care taken over decisions and that trying and failing could be a positive management plan.

I enjoy the series very much but beginning to feel that if the prisoner is briefed carefully enough in what to say (learns a crib sheet) then the boxes can be ticked and the gate is opened. It's a process that's weighted against anyone who can't think on their feet or is a bit slow to recognise the danger signals from the Parole Board. It was interesting to hear that coming out on probation entitles them to the support that they need to start afresh but if they're released at the end of their sentence.....nothing. I've been wrong many times trying to guess what will happen!

This is Carl's 10th parole hearing! That is a lot of parole hearings!
