Hanging in there because LOTR was such a favourite of mine and my sons but seriously losing hope now:

5 episodes in and still no fight / battle scenes - just a single 10 second skirmish. Booooring.

Endless earnest conversations in a variety of fantasy settings 🙄 Booooooring.

The diversity casting makes no sense whatsoever. Black elves / dwarves - fine, no problem, but give them a storyline, a proper backstory: make it make sense! It’s just lazy tickbox diversity otherwise.

Anyone enjoying it? Hanging in there? I’m no Tolkien purist, and I love a good swords and wizards fantasy, but this is just… a big disappointment.

I just about got through the first series because I'm a diehard LOTR fan. It was painful.

It's so slow. It bears little resemblance to the source material. The awful accents.

I couldn't bear watching the second series. You're very brave. I'm guessing nothing has happened and you're confused.

It's all been a bit nothingy - although the Numenorean stuff's been quite a rollercoaster, very Roman Grin

Most of the impetus has been Celebrimbor's gradual conversion to the dark side.

Apparently the final Battle is going to be three episodes long. I'm not sure that's an improvement.

oh and I've just realised what the problem was this week - no Nuri and Gandalf (of course it's bloody Gandalf, I said that when he first arrived)

I’m still disappointed that the actor playing Adar has changed. Joseph Mawle was much better.

They've just drawn out the source material so much. Who even cares about half of what happens? It's hard to follow all the sun plots since everything happens in such excruciating detail without prioritisation at all.

Yes, I have no idea who the main characters are meant to be 🤷‍♀️ I mean I know from the books what ‘should’ happen, and what happens later, but atm it’s just random overlapping stories.

And the dialogue 🤦‍♀️. Given that Tolkien was a master of words, this is embarrassing. All meaningful stares / glares, when they could - you know - speak? At length? 🙄

what a missed opportunity.
