Watching this today and it is still one of the best programmes! I love it!

There's the church episode where someone comes looking for Richard, and Hyacinth says "Richard is invaluable in a crisis" which always cracks me up. Her face at seeing her sweaty vest wearing brother in law belting out the chorus with the choir is priceless 👌

Swimming pool and room for a pony!!!

I'm rewatching it and realise how much I love Hyacinth. It's everyone else around her that's the problem!

Patricia Routledge is a comedy genius and KUA's is comedy gold.

purpleme12 · 29/08/2024 01:22

So glad people agree!

Love it. She is amazing.

Watched a few episodes of "As Time Goes By " last weekend. Love that programme. Tbh Judi Dench is ny least favorite but the rest of them are brilliant. Good old Alistair. Penny & Stephen. Rocky and Madge.

BeBopBeBop · 29/08/2024 01:59

Loved Hyacinth and bizarrely clips of As Time Goes By have suddenly started appearing on my social media.

Another brilliant one for nostalgia is Yes, Prime Minister. The sets, fashion etc are of their time but my god, the storylines have not aged at all.

suburberphobe · 29/08/2024 02:03

Love it! Classic English class humour.

I have a friend called Hyacinth, I jokingly call her Mrs. Bucket. She takes it in good grace. Love her.

purpleme12 · 29/08/2024 02:04

Hyacinth, wow! I've never known one in real life!

'I require your furniture department please, the quality section, not the plywood end'.

I'm just watching the one with the 3 peice suite where Hyacinth is waiting for a delivery. Patricia is a genius of an actress.

BathPoppadum · 31/08/2024 09:29

You might enjoy this. I have heard some clips from it on William's other podcast that he does with Jordan North. I'm not a KUA fan, but it made me laugh.

Yes 😂😂

Mind that lorry Richard!

(The lorry in the car park on the other side of the road! 😂)

She is a genius- agreed. I'm going to watch some this weekend now!

StMarieforme · 31/08/2024 12:20

Such a shame that misogyny around older women stopped her from being cast after KUA, something that she was very very vocal about.

To see her at dramatic best, look for Talking Heads- A Woman of No Importance. 1982 monologue. Amazing.

And yes love KUA! 😊

Wonderful. There was a programme on before BBC4 started the recent repeats. I can't remember but I think it was the writer of it who spoke about it. Whoever, he pointed out what a physical actress she was - the crouching past hedges and that lovely cowering past the barking dog are examples. All of the characters are great.
Then it's followed by bittersweet 'Butterflies'.
