After reading stuff in private eye about the post office case, I was interested in this program and their views on this case.

having watched the program, I find it extremely worrying that

defence witness fear for their careers
people will be put off going into nursing

thought provoking program about how the system is operating

Questioning the conviction on here usually results in a bloodthirsty mob descending on you.

In light of the many, many miscarriages of justice in our system, I think it's important that there is space to raise questions. I have concerns about how the case was conducted.

I was listening to a BBC podcast today about a woman who was wrongfully convicted of multiple murders. An observation was made by a scientist reviewing the case that when the science is weak or poor, the prosecution will often put great effort into assassinating the character of the defendant and painting them as a monster - because it makes the jury more likely to turn against them and overlook deficiencies in the prosecution case and disregard evidence from the defence.

It reminded me of how the prosecution conducted this case frankly. The way she was cross examined wasn't about getting to the truth, it was about painting a story and trying to manipulate normal human responses to spin their narrative.

If the evidence was valid and robust, they wouldn't have needed to do that.

Letby was not working on the day the X-ray was taken and had not been on shift since before the baby was born - information the jury heard in her first trial. Letby’s former barrister Ben Myers also highlighted these details in his closing argument.
