Whats going on, they are almost all falling off, they must be gutted

I don't know if you're watching on Eurosport, but the commentator has just said that this particular make of beam is not used in many countries.

Apparently they are not all standard specifications. This particular make has rounded edges that makes you feel as if you're slipping off if you're not used to it.

All seems a bit unfair.

Even Simone Biles has just fallen off.

Biles looked really angry.

I feel for the last girl from brazil, she was great and came 4th.

Still well done to the Italian girl.

The commentator the other day (who was a Gymnast herself ) when loadssss of gymnasts were also falling off, said she wondered if the beam was off centre slightly....

Is it not the same brand used in qualifications and team/all around competitions? Surely they haven't changed it just for the beam final. Agree it's not very sporting if so!

Commentator is former gymnast Craig Heap but whenever I hear him I picture Johnny Vegas on the parallel bars or rings!

I know this isn't what the thread is about but my DC do bouldering so we were watching that. The wall looked completely impossible. It was so hard some athletes withdrew after attempting and failing on the first course. Surely there needs to be some kind of standard. How demoralising!

I'm surprised there isn't some kind of Olympic standard for the equipment.

But I watched the team event and they didn't all seem to be falling off then? Is it because the beam specialists are doing more difficult routines in the beam-only event?

Oh ill be disappointed if they're all struggling, I love the beam (watching it).

There seemed to be more falls off the asymmetric bars than you'd expect as well.

Amato deserved to win though.

Now all the men are falling off the high bar! Are they just fatigued? Don't think I have ever seen this level of falls at a championship!

I can't believe it either.

Not only did she not win Gold but no medal at all seems outrageous.

She is beautiful to watch-I think she was absolutely robbed.

Now watching Men's high bar and a couple in a row have fallen on dismount.

Commentators saying often when one gymnast falls the wobbles spread throughout the athletes.

Did anyone else notice how those who have fallen off (both today and other days) it's (mostly) all been at the same end/spot?

I'm watching high bar too @MrsMitford3 and the skiing of falls is crazy!!! Especially on the dismount 😵‍💫

I'm just not enjoying the gymnastics this year. I don't know if it's the way the new(ish) scoring system pushes them to chase the difficulty score at the expense of everything else, but so few of the routines seem to "flow" the way they did in previous decades. Landings are almost always wobbly and you feel the gymnasts are only just holding it together. I wish there was more emphasis on smoothness of execution, as this is often quite painful to watch. I assume there are more mistakes happening now because they've been at it for over a week and they're completely knackered.

Re the Beam, I'm in shock that Andrade came 4th considering she was one of the few that didn't fall off. I literally felt Sunisa Lee's fall when she landed astride the beam and then fell off 😵

Hazel Irvine just asked Beth Tweedle about all the falls happening, she more or less said fatigue as the performances are closer together this Olympics.

Wonder what Simone was saying as she came off wasn't sure if she seemed angry with the cameras
