We've subscribed to sky for just over a year but we're economising and I want to end our subscription. I understand that we should still receive free channels though the sky box, does anyone do this and how does it work? We don't get a didgital signal where we are so need to use the satelite and box to get something. Do I just contact sky and give the card back? And most importantly - will we still get cbeebies!?Ta.

we did this, just took out min Sky subscription to get the dish and box (we are not in a digi area either).

You just need to give sky one months notice.

YOU STILL GET CBEEBIES!!!
And tiny pop and a few others on Kids.

We still get lots of channels but sometimes you have to hunt about for them.

1234, ITV2, BBC34, Channel 4+1, sky3, 4movies.

However you don't get some you should, like More 4 and More4+1 as sky reckon that these are part of your packages and want you to cough up.

They also bombard you with letters and calls after you stop paying, telling you you've broken your contract and that they will take the money from your account anyway. Takes ages in calls each time. i suspect they will be having a lot of people cancelling or cutting down these days so they'll be desperate to keep you. When you ring to cancel you just have to be tough and not listen to them trying to sell you cheaper packages. I just kept saying 'I only got the dish so I can get digital channels, I don't watch your sky channels please don't try to sell them to me'

Oh sorry didn't answer half your question!
You don't need to do anything, just on the day your sky ends, your screen and everything looks the same, its just that chanels you could get before now give you some writing on the screen telling you that you have to pay to receive it.
Good luck you won't miss it.

Thanks flibberty, that sounds easy enough. Dd will be relieved about the Cbeebies, especially with the new Charlie&Lola, its her favourite!
