policywonk · 13/04/2008 21:21

Don is very easy on the eye isn't he. And Betsy is looovely.

southeastastra · 13/04/2008 21:52

This is fab, but boy do these people smoke!!!

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 10:54

i love it

it is my sunday porn

marina and I love the fabulous joan

marina · 14/04/2008 10:57

Joan and her superb beehive and bosom are the stars for me, I heart Christina Hendricks for looking like a real, sultry, gorgeous woman on American TV.
Every single actor in it is excellent though. Won't say too much about last night's as enid needs to catch up but what an inspired act of revenge on Don's part
Enid tells me it has a second series, fab news

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 11:11

marina have you seen Hollywoodland (movie)

really really good acting and starring Adrien Brody who I am in love with

marina · 14/04/2008 11:18

Presumably it is more of a laff than The Pianist?

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 11:19

I thought the montage at the end of episdoe (6/7?) with Don Macleans 'babylon' (which I now can't stop singing) was a triumph. especially the lovely ending with joan and john slattery coming out of the hotel. inspired.

what with madmen, the wire and battlestar galactica my tv viewing is providing much pleasure

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 11:21

lol at the pianist [hangs head in misery]

it is based on the murder/suicide of George reeves (superman) in the 50's

diane lane is incandescent in it

Notyummy · 14/04/2008 11:23

Agree with FYIAD...Mad Men AND a new series of Battlestar Galactica.

The sky plus is set and my TV cup runneth over....

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 11:24

not yummy - buy the Wire on dvd

you'll thank me

Notyummy · 14/04/2008 11:24

Oh, and Don is HOT (in a slightly tortured/sexist way).

Notyummy · 14/04/2008 11:26

I've heard that the Wire is one of the best series in years, so will probably invest in the boxed set. Having said that, dh and I sadly failed to ever watch the Sopranos when it was on, so now have to get through the boxed sets of those first.

policywonk · 14/04/2008 21:17

Oh yes, Joan is fabulous and terrifying all at once.

I used to share a house (when a student) with the English chap in Battlestar Galactica - Dr Gaius or summat? (Never watched it myself.) He was nice, but incrediably vain.

Notyummy · 15/04/2008 07:28

ooh policywonk...touched by fame! Shame on you, btw. Get watching the boxed sets straight away. 'tis an allegory on the war on terror don't you know.....?

policywonk · 15/04/2008 21:32

Yes, people keep saying that it's good. I will get the boxed set one day when I have more time - or possibly wait until it's possible to get the entire opus downloaded directly into my brain-port or something.

nct73 · 18/04/2008 13:49

I am mainly watching for the furniture and accessories. Gorgeous design & period detail. Beautifully shot too.

Can't seem to remember all their names tho. Too busy looking at the set.

southeastastra · 18/04/2008 14:27

the sets are lovely aren't they, i'm always drawn to the large rectangle lights in the boardroom.

I have spotted my coffee table and some glasses like my mum has. I do keep looking at lights too & imagining in my own home.

Agreed Mad Men is the best thing on at the moment. Wish DP was skinny enough to work the Don Draper look.

I think Joan is the sexiest woman around at the moment - she's stunning.

FYIAD - I also heart Adrien Brody. Have you seen Harrison's Flowers?

marina · 25/04/2008 11:32

Excellent use of music too. I am surprised they did not give this a whirl on BBC1 or 2 actually. The gradual crumbling of Peter's life and sanity is being done so well it hurts, despite one initially thinking what a vile little squirt he is

FYIAD · 25/04/2008 12:10

peggy makes me feel ab ti sick

are we meant to like her? I canna work it out
