Prime time on Saturday !!!

6 parts on weekly

Piglets is a fictional new comedy about a police training academy and the title is not intended to cause any offence, it's a comedic and endearing play on words to emphasise the innocence and youth of our young trainee

The six-part series focuses on the lives of six wannabe cops as they get put through their paces at a fictional police training college.

It follows the experiences of a group of trainee officers as they start prepping to join the police force.

Sarah Parish and Mark Heap are heading up the cast, playing stern Superintendent Julie Spry and more relaxed Superintendent Bob Weekes.

It’s meant to be really funny but the name has backlash big time !

BUT Been complaints over name of show

ITV bosses have faced controversy over the title of one of their upcoming comedy shows.
The new series, which is set to start airing on July 20

However, real cops have already expressed their displeasure with the name of the show, Piglets.

The tongue in cheek title makes reference to the way that police are sometimes offensively referred to as 'pigs'.

The Police Federation (www.thesun.co.uk/news/21004057/one-in-five-cops-plan-quit-pay-morale-poll/) issued a statement hitting out at the name of the series, with the Acting Chair calling it "disgusting".

Tiffany Lynch, Acting National Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said: "The new ITV (www.thesun.co.uk/topic/itv/) show titled Piglets ishighly offensive to police officers risking their lives to protect the public every day by providing an emergency service.

I tried to watch it and simply could not believe how bad it was. Seriously; it is not just void of humour but it seems almost deliberately facile and banal in every dimension. I squirm with embarrassment for the actors and curse the writers and condemn to an eternity of ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ the commissioners.
Every single character is a cliché; there is not a single redeeming feature.
How on earth did this get commissioned. Hey, I get dumbing down is the thing but really? This just plummets the very depths of the very worst of comedy… the worst of humanity.

I thought it was quite bad/amateurish when I first saw it, (ep 1,) but it gets better with each episode IMO. I did laugh quite a few times in the last couple of episodes. (Both were on tonight.) Seen better comedies, but this is worth a second season IMO.
