I'm the same as you , it's quite unusual but thoroughly gripping.

TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey · 01/07/2024 19:22

Its brilliant, waiting for the kids to fo to bed so i can watch the final episode.

TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey · 01/07/2024 19:33

That should be GO to bed, not 'fuck off' to bed!

monicagellerbing · 01/07/2024 19:36

Hahaha @TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey I prefer the first one 😂

I agree it's really different to anything I've watched before, they are all such good actors too. I'll be gutted to finish it!

I binged it over the weekend. I thought it was brilliant.

Great characters, gripping storyline, a few good twists,

I really hope it’s renewed for a second season.

Jennalong · 02/07/2024 10:19

Bring on the 2nd series !

BetsyRegards · 02/07/2024 10:27

This is encouraging!

It’s on my list …

ButterCrackers · 02/07/2024 10:29

Started this series last night - brilliant.

thecatneuterer · 02/07/2024 20:56

I enjoyed it but lost interest towards the end as the fantasy element ramped up. Still, it's a million miles better than anything American with superpowers and shit.

Mothership4two · 02/07/2024 23:11

I watched the first episode but couldn't get into it. It's the sort of thing that would be up my street normally. Reminded me of (the infinitely better IMO) Misfits which had humour in it.

MummaMummaJumma · 02/07/2024 23:19

Sooo good! I’ve watched it all and will be rewatching with my Husband over the weekend. Series 2 not yet announced/confirmed as I believe they need feedback first. So definitely click on “love this” when you’ve completed so Netflix know we want more!

BetsyRegards · 03/07/2024 04:10

4 o clock? 4AM ?

That’s how good it was.

They’d better bring S2 sharpish …

I didn’t find it much like Misfits - which is a work of genius - and I could have done without the Stranger Things references. (Weeks of my life I’ll never get back ..) But when it was just itself it was brilliant.

Shattered now …

Completely agree. Misfits was a million miles better.

LDNtiliDie · 03/07/2024 22:40

I loved Misfits, but it went off the boil in its later stages. This was different…fresher and not playing for laughs. I really need Series 2 NOW!

BetsyRegards · 04/07/2024 10:44

Supacell has tipped me over into finally starting Top Boy.

Although I revere The Wire I was hugely reluctant to get drawn into any stereotyped portrayal of English Black people being involved in the drugs trade.

But, oh my - 7 episodes in, I can see why it’s won awards. It’s utterly superb TV. Unfortunately.

FretfulPorpentine · 04/07/2024 16:39

Oh, excellent, I looked for a thread on this after bingeing at the weekend.

I found it compelling and it's completely unlike the sort of TV I usually watch (never seen the other things being referenced in this thread). I usually avoid anything violent and there were bits of it I had to look away from but I just loved it. I really hope they do make a second series.

Also (spoiler)

I KNEW SHE WAS A BADDIE.

Scorchio84 · 08/07/2024 15:37

Oh nice one, I wwas hmming & hawing over this but I'll give it a go later

SausageShop · 08/07/2024 18:14

I've just finished it, can't wait for series two! We got Top Boy x Umbrella Academy vibes from it

BetsyRegards · 08/07/2024 18:31

I reached the end of the penultimate Netflix produced Top Boy episode and then decided to go back to Channel 4’s Top Boy, Summerhouse in order to delay arriving at the end of the story. I’m on S2 of Summerhouse. The way this story focuses on children makes it both delightful and horrifying.

ComoSeDicePepinoEnIngles · 08/07/2024 18:34

I have one left, enjoying it do far. Some of the dialogue is hard to catch mind you but think I have followed the plot so far.

workshy46 · 10/07/2024 16:09

Keep with it as I thought the few first episodes were only ok but it gets v good. Great acting. I have one episode left.

Bankholidayhelp · 10/07/2024 19:49

I'm another one who thought the first episode was 'slow' but I kept going and it was blinking fab.

BetsyRegards · 11/07/2024 17:29

GeneralMusings · 11/07/2024 18:25

We're watching the first episode. I'm intrigued.. But

I'm not good with stabbings though. Is that just episode 1 or is there lots of gang violence?
