Am sick of not having more than 4 channels. Have phone and broadband with virgin-should I get tv with them too or a digibox? Do digiboxes work in all areas as I've heard they don't. Thank you xxxx

We have Freeview and it's great. You just buy a box. If you want to record programmes and pause live tv and stuff get a Humax box or similar, excellent imo.

maidamess · 08/04/2008 21:28

I think digiboxes are ok in most places ? 'Check with your local electrical retailer' .Don't think there will suddenly be a world of excellent entertainment afforded to you though, most of it is still crap! Havent virgin got an offer where its telly, phone and broadband for £40 a month?

cocolepew · 08/04/2008 21:29

To be honest there's not much you're missing! I would go with a digibox as they are quite cheap now. If you look in th e Argos catalogue there is a number you can phone to see if you receive the signal.

I don't know, but my mob contract is ending soon too so might get all 4 with them! I used to have it and miss dog the bounty hunter!

Virgin have some good deals at the moment so you may be able to get television on top of your current package for not much more than you pay now. It rather depends on what you want as they have many different types of television packages.

You can get a really cheap digibox for under £25, but it will just get the channels available on Freeview and that's it. If you want to pay more, you can get one that records programmes, or for more money one which records and pauses live tv, etc.

With a digibox, it's a one-off payment. With Virgin, you are paying every month.

Phwoar the Humax one is expensive! Looks like a good idea tho as I study so never get to watch my fave progs when they are on-hmm xx

website to check coverage for free view

TheArmadillo · 08/04/2008 21:37

if you have virgin you might be able to get a basic package with them for free.

There is a site where you can check coverage for freeview but I don't know what it is (helpful - eh).

We have virgin adn the only reason we haven't got freeview is cos we get the telly free (cos of the phone and the very basic package). Thoguh you actually get a couple less channels than on freeview

TheArmadillo · 08/04/2008 21:38

ona dn on virgin you get their watch again thingy. That and cbeebies does us.

We get no reception for tv in our area which is really annoying. Especially as we are on top of a hill.
