Why was fire exit blocked

On Monday we saw some kids playing with a grey bin, so I think that ended up blocking the exit.
Penny was about to ask Chelsea or Zac to check the exits, but she was distracted and it didn't get done.

Yes, but it was her fault they had oversold the tickets. Then when the bouncers tried to turn people away, people started getting arsey and got past them.
Then the utter chaos happened with no plan in place.

I did laugh that none of the exits would open, yet it took screaming and complete panic before Zack suggested they leave through the office fire exit 10ft away from them all 😬😆

These people desperately trying to get into a second rate club for a cocktail with one sprig of mint would have also had to listen to Kim too!

Re the exits- they couldn't initially go back up the stairs as that's where the crush was coming from

Tho surely those trying to get down the Stairs would reliese they couldn't and go back up into the street

But that's not how a crowd surge works. Too many people moving forward with nowhere to go, but they dont know theres nowhereto go, so they keep pushing forwards. The pressure wave then causes the crushing, combined with the panic etc.
A large number of people in a small space can feel suffocating even if there's no pushing, so increasing the number of people even slightly plus including pushing and people falling, it's almost impossible to stop once it starts.
Add into this situation that many people had been drinking; the loud music meaning nobody could hear any instructions; the heat of so many bodies etc, all adds to the panic and hyperventilating.
The people who shoved past the bouncers to get into the club wouldn't calmly stop, turn round and go back up the stairs.

The queue left outside didn't seem that long so the Ken's at the top of the Stuart's would surely leave
