Anyone started this yet? I've always enjoyed it in the past, but I haven't had chance yet to watch the first and second episodes. Both episodes are now on Apple TV+.

Trailer here:

Oh great! I was wondering if there would be any more seasons of this

SittingontheSidelines · 24/05/2024 22:56

I've watched the first two episodes and my burning question is have they moved house or has their flat got bigger. So glad it's back

burnoutbabe · 25/05/2024 13:35

They had a 2 bed and I think separated the spair room when kids moved in.

Did they buy in the end? Can't recall how they afforded it.

I do love this show, it's very charming with all the various characters.

burnoutbabe · 25/05/2024 13:40

Abs I find it sweet the 2 main actors have fallen in love and now expecting. (Obviously ignoring any partners that may have been hurt in the process)

SittingontheSidelines · 25/05/2024 16:44

If I remember rightly friend Freddy bought the flat to let out to them in the last series

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/05/2024 21:44

I've just started it but I'm finding it slightly distracting that they've swapped child actors for the two kids. Is there also a 4-5 year time hop?

The girl seems to have drawn on freckles to try make up for the swapping actors.

SittingontheSidelines · 30/05/2024 21:48

I think it's a six year time jump. I've only watched the first two but I'm not feeling it so far and I absolutely loved the first three series. Still hoping to get back into it though.

SittingontheSidelines · 03/06/2024 10:32

Just watched episode 3. I enjoyed it, it made me laugh, but I am struggling to see these as the same children, especially Princess. Also I feel a bit cheated out of watching them grow into parent hood.

Yes I think that's my problem with it, would have been nice to see them grow into parents with the kids but the time hop has ruined that somewhat.

I wonder why they decided to do the time hop, or if it was just because of the child actors changing.

Just watched episode 1 and feel something is off. It just feels weird we’ve jumped six years and as a result I don’t feel invested in the two main characters anymore. But great performances and lovely locations will keep me going.

The actress playing Princess is too old to play a 16 year old and that’s distracting, also.

Half way through the series now and it hasn’t improved. Siân Brooke’s OTT brummie accent is also grating.

It just doesn’t feel the same now 😔

Netaporter · 19/06/2024 17:25

Oh, I’m really enjoying this now. Writing is very witty. I did tear up today.

SittingontheSidelines · 20/06/2024 21:34

Really enjoyed this most recent episode. It felt like adoption issues were centre stage again. And it was funny. Also I'm getting used to the age jump now. (Though I still think they could have made a couple of early adoption days series before showing this one).

Most episodes have something that makes me tear up!
I thibk this is the last season? So maybe that's why the time jump?

To be able to tell the story of princess /kat as closure (I am only up to episode 6 /mother's day so don't know how the story will play out) which may have been hard to film with a younger actress?

westisbest1982 · 27/06/2024 07:42

I enjoyed this week’s episode on the whole. I liked the Spain locations and thought the actress who played Kat did a fabulous job. The stuff going on in London with Princess and her coursework, however…not so great.

Today’s episode has all the emotions…very good indeed.

burnoutbabe · 03/07/2024 13:40

Yes I liked it!

So cliff hanger for a next season?

mintich · 03/07/2024 13:43

I've found the little girl with the long hair quite distracting as she is small but clearly has a much older face, so I spend the whole time wondering what age she actually is!

burnoutbabe · 03/07/2024 14:38

5 or 6?
Karen said she was pregnant in season 3 -I don't recall her giving birth in that session. Then we had a time jump.

westisbest1982 · 03/07/2024 21:55

Yeah I enjoyed it as well. Good to see that Kat may be a permanent character in the next season, if there is one.

Have finished S4, whilst I didn’t like the time jump, or the fact that Princess was 16 going on 35, or the very idea the family could complete her GCSE coursework for her…I actually enjoyed it. Bit silly in parts, but some laugh out loud script bits. Worth another series?

( Darren Boyd the actor who plays Scot is also good in Outlaws and whilst it’s not really funny like Trying, Sian Brooke is superb in Blue Lights)

SittingontheSidelines · 05/07/2024 22:55

I really enjoyed the final episode. I felt the whole thing had just got into its stride after the major time jump... and then it finished. Still it did leave me wanting more.

BoredAuditor · 11/07/2024 22:24

For the pp asking about the flat, it's the same one as always. They've converted the attic which is why it seems bigger. The attic is now Princess's room.

burnoutbabe · 12/07/2024 06:59

It's a weird flat where they appear to actually have all floors! From ground floor to actic!
