Just started watching this again. Had forgotten how amazingly good , and horrifying, it is. If you haven’t watched it it is like watching the best thriller with the added frisson that it is based on reality. Amazing cast too. The jumping back and fro in time is initially a bit confusing but iI think necessary as a linear retelling wouldn’t grip and hold attention in the same way.

I saw some of this when it was on before but didn't finish it. Thanks for flagging it up, have set it to my watchlist.

Herculesthescot · 29/04/2024 01:50

Amazing drama and so shocking.

poolcrew · 29/04/2024 02:01

This is definitely one of the best things I have ever watched

Willmafrockfit · 29/04/2024 07:13

must watch this

YearsofYears · 29/04/2024 07:18

Just finished it recently, it is such a standout show. Is there anything similar out there? I've also seen The Dropout which has a similar vibe.

Blahdeblah12345 · 29/04/2024 08:01

There's a similar show on Netflix about the same topic called painkiller. Not as good as dope sick though

Willmafrockfit · 29/04/2024 08:12

oh i noticed the one on Netflix, so its not the same?

Willmafrockfit · 29/04/2024 08:12

half way through the Dropout also, might get confused watching both at the same time

EasternStandard · 29/04/2024 08:13

One of the best shows I’ve watched

Just a heads up for anyone wanting more information, the documentary All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is about the photographer Nan Goldin, who was so disgusted and incensed at the Sackler Family and their hypocrisy in funding art venues with one hand while killing people and destroying lives with the other that she campaigned to get the Sackler name removed from many of the institutions where they had made huge donations. Makes you proud to be a woman! Not sure where it is still available but am sure it will be on a streaming service somewhere.

Amazing series with an amazing cast.

There's an excellent book about the OxyContin/ Sacler family scandal called Empire of Pain

Tortiemiaw · 19/05/2024 16:47

I've just finished a two day binge, having come late to this. It was gripping and so bloody sad.

Money is genuinely evil in the wrong hands, isn't it, and we see it over here as well in so many ways.

Cried at the end!

Willmafrockfit · 21/05/2024 06:50

I have started this now.
enjoying so far.

Blackcats7 · 21/05/2024 07:02

It is an amazing series and I learned a lot. I had heard about the opioid scandal but not in this detail.
Michael Keaton was excellent. I remember him as Beetlejuice in the 80s and the mark of a good actor is range and it doesn’t come broader than these two roles.
