Hi. Just wondered if anyone is watching this. I'm only on Episode 3, so no spoilers as yet please, but it would be good to get some discussion going.
Thanks.

I struggled a bit with this. It was way too long and drawn out. The story could have been told in half the number of episodes. The acting was good but the script and direction were a bit plodding. Even after all those episodes, I'm still not sure what to make of it all.

No!! It occurred to me that this part seemed to be forgotten about Confused

They suggested it was lab contamination.

I thought it was a good series and I stuck with it, but admittedly the story itself is challenging and frustrating because no one really has any answers. There were some good long-form articles about the case at the time which I’d recommend hunting out if you’re interested in it.
The whole set up was just so odd. The parents both seemed dysfunctional and codependent in a really unhealthy way. And we really don’t have much of an impression of Asunta herself as she left so little trace.

Speaking of not having an impression of Asunta, did they dub her lines? Most of the time we didn't see the actresses' face when she was speaking, which made me think that the lines were spoken by someone other than the Asian girl who was supposed to be Asunta. Maybe they had a hard time finding an Asian actress of the right age who was fluent in Spanish?

I think I figured out the motive. Did anyone catch the part where the abusive and controlling dad mentioned Asunta would always bind them. I think the mother drugged the daughter to finally disconnect from the father and realised what she had done when it was too late. The photos of her on the chair were very weird and in appropriate, especially when the mother mentioned in the jail cells next to each other about his dirty imagination. It also explains his comment about hoping she hadn’t been raped. I think the mother may have been drugging her for months to disappear with the man she was having an affair with or the father did it to possibly abuse her whilst she was asleep/drugged. On the last episode now and the pair are guilty. I feel the dad covered for the mum to cover his abuse and also to keep control over her.

Yes I agree with this. The father said the child would always bind them together. She didn't want that. BUT she seemed like such a weak character and not one who had the stomach for an affair. As to why they wanted to kill her 🤷‍♀️
