Just walked into the room in time for Rafa

Why would he be surprised by the affection people have for him? Stupid question!

They love asking daft questions.

Tim was funny earlier when they showed his match against Rafa at Rome, years back. Obviously, he lost Grin.

Raahh · 08/05/2024 15:44

Has Annabel not read the script? She's not supposed to be waxing lyrical about Foggy- he's playing a BritGrin

They will be sending her home.

Raahh · 08/05/2024 16:02

oh no- get out the ombrelli.

I thought it looked gloomy.

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2024 16:04

I saw that Raahh "I didn't even get that one" Grin Poor Tim Grin

I know- poor bloke Grin

Well, it's well and truly raining now.

Fizzywinegum · 08/05/2024 16:12

Just put the tennis on and it’s pouring down in Rome Hmm

Raahh · 08/05/2024 16:15

No! Matteo has withdrawn. Sad

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2024 16:32

Oh no poor Matteo

Poor Matteo Sad

Rafa’s match is on at 12pm tomorrow- I’m frantically trying to rearrange my day to get a chance of seeing him

Raahh · 09/05/2024 07:41

Just seen that Rafa is scheduled 'not before 1' (12) - which is pretty early, and if yesterday in Rome is anything to go by , it could be cold and damp. But hopefully he will get his match played .

Raahh · 09/05/2024 07:46

Sorry Fizzy - I've just seen your post Grin- half asleep this morning.

I am supposed to be out at lunchtime, but it's not essential. I do have to go out about 2.45, though- so if Rafa could be finished by then- that would be god Grin. (Don't want to miss the end).

I doubt he will be wanting a very lengthy match, anyway.

It's a shame he potentially plays Hubi next, because I like Hubi , and don't want to jinx him before his match. But- if he could just be feeling a bit under the weather...

ChessieFL · 09/05/2024 08:32

Fingers crossed for Rafa today. I won’t see it unfortunately as I’m having to battle through all the train disruption for a work trip today. Which is fun.

Shame about Matteo, would have been good for him to be able to play a ‘home’ tournament especially as Sinner’s not playing either! Really hope Matteo has some better luck soon.

Fizzywinegum · 09/05/2024 09:37

I don’t think I’ll be able to watch Rafa - unless there are more delays and his match is on later - it is quite an early start for him

I’m hoping that it’s a straightforward win for him - I’ll be gutted if I miss his last match in Rome

Raahh · 09/05/2024 10:08

Weather does look better today.

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2024 11:18

Well done Angie! Loved both their outfits.

Looks like Popyrin is going out early this time

Just got in and scrolling through the scores. Again, the scheduling is incomprehensible. Some of the women have already played their round of 64 match before others have started their round of 128 Confused
I see Draper and Dan are also due to play this afternoon.

Raahh · 09/05/2024 11:57

kazza yes, I noticed there were women's first round matches early in the week, whilst the men were still playing qualifying. But I think that was the same for Madrid as well.

I really don't like these extended tournaments- and i think the jury is out with the players and pundits too. Annabel was talking about it yesterday- they don't help the players who lose early, as they then have ages til the next tournament starts. They don't really help the top players, because there really isn't a lot of down time.
I know they allow more players to take part (and earn money) but they don't seem well thought out.

And there are a lot of injuries happening.

Rafa may not be starting that soon, since Stefanini may be about to level the match against Noskova that was playing before his.

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2024 12:01

I've just seen that Domi may retire late this year. It's not official though.

The male v female commentators yesterday (can't remember who) were arguing what day the tournament actually started as the women had already played several matches but of course the man didn't accept that Hmm

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/05/2024 12:03

tie break.

Noskova might wrap this up soon after all.

I read about Domi Jane- mixed information- one article seemed quite sure, that it would be later in the year at the Austrian Open- and then another seemed to think it was still quite vague. Djok had been asked his opinion, apparently.

I'm not surprised it was the bloke arguing, Jane clearly nothing starts til the Brits do the men do Grin

Raahh · 09/05/2024 12:08

They've toned down the 'Rafa's last match' stuff this tournament- so far, anyway!

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2024 12:10

It's very insulting to say it hasn't started until the men turn up Angry I wish Martina had been there to set him straight!

I wonder if Zizou is nervous!
