Sad

I mean, I can kind of understand Brenda Blethyn not wanting to do it any more at pushing 80, and I don't imagine there are that many Chief Inspectors of that age but still.

Vera to end after 14th and final season | Radio Times

Brenda Blethyn will be hanging up the coat and hat with two final episodes of Vera, which will make up the show's 14th season.

Cocolapew · 22/04/2024 17:08

Oh what a shame, I love it.

I love Vera, no nasty boss's sticking their nose in, no estranged family/wife/kids popping up moaning a murder detective is busy all the time....investigating murders. Just a weekly one off story to dip into.

I've started watching them all again on ITVX.
Brilliant actress as well as the other Actors .

That's a blow. Ann Cleeves, however, is still going strong and I believe there is a new Vera title coming out later this year. I'm reading her third Three Rivers book at the moment (The Raging Storm) and enjoying it. I wonder if ITV will film books 2 and 3. It's ages since they did the first one.

Floralnomad · 22/04/2024 17:23

Cant blame her really . I enjoyed the last series but I do miss Aiden

Londonnight · 22/04/2024 17:30

I live Vera. It's a shame that it is ending, such a great series.

deeahgwitch · 15/01/2025 12:27

I have only watched the last two so very very late to the party 😀
Did anyone see the final episode ?
I have a few questions.

Clutterbugsmum · 15/01/2025 12:31

I watched the final episode, and most of previous ones

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/01/2025 12:32

Watched the first episode again the other day.
How young they all looked, especially Joe.

Would you mind answering a few questions on the episode please @Clutterbugsmum ?

Why was the young student killed ?
It seemed a bit daft.
Who killed the killer with heroin and fentanyl?
Why ?
Was Chloe being followed because she knew who killed both ?
The father, in the final confrontation didn’t appear to be grieving much.
Chasing after a young girl in the countryside when his son was lying in the mortuary.....

Clutterbugsmum · 15/01/2025 19:11

Why was the young student killed ? - Josh was killed because he had written a exposé on the company of the Children's home and the money they were making, and what they were doing.

It seemed a bit daft. His father was the accountant for the company, and involved with the company.

Who killed the killer with heroin and fentanyl? Josh's mum was a GP and gave the drugs to the boy from the care home, by being persuaded by his Dad. He thought Chloe would be there.

Why ? Because he committed the first murder, and killed him because of it.

Was Chloe being followed because she knew who killed both ? She saw the murder of Josh happen, because she was following him as she had a crush on him.

The father, in the final confrontation didn’t appear to be grieving much.

Chasing after a young girl in the countryside when his son was lying in the mortuary.....

I agree he only broke down when ever thing was over.

Thank you @Clutterbugsmum

Did they kill the young drug addict because he killed their son ?

The father didn't appear to grieve.
How did they get the boy to the cottage and who actually gave him the drugs ?

It was all a bit 🤷‍♀️

Clutterbugsmum · 16/01/2025 13:42

Yes the father killed the boy because he murdered their son.

I think they went to the cottage as they knew it was Chloe 'safe place' as it belonged to her grandparents and she went their with her mum before she died. And assumed Chloe would be there and found the other boy. If Chloe had been there she would have been killed as well.

I don't think the father grieved as he was hell bent on revenge on the murder of their son.

Thank you @Clutterbugsmum
