the guyon telly last night, does anyone know why he didnt just have the growth removed from his face?

i freaked out a bit when i saw his face. so changed channels, wuss that i am. but i have been thinking aboutthis. in tdys world, where people reglarly have cosmetic sureger t straighten out their noses, or lift their cheekbones etc, why was this man not offered surgery?

it was because of his religious beliefs of being aloud blood transfusions and opperation could not be done because of the blood loss until now , a surgeon has found a way to remove it bit by bit so to lessen the blood loss

Also he lived in rural portugal where such medical intervention was not readily available. It took them 2 days to travel to London.

He's a Jehovah's Witness so will not accept blood products.

There is a synthetic plasma that can be used instead of blood but hospitals are reluctant to use it as it is expensive (source: my DH used to be a Witness)

i wondered because no matter how rural the place, for a disfigurement like that, any doctor would be able to operate on it surely? no matter how rural.
and portugal isnt exactly timbuctoo is it?
